anything to look out for on newer Burbs?

don't get me wrong. I would LOVE a squarebody burb to be my new family hauler but it just isnt realistic.

looking at 2006 and newer burbs, but in my price range mileage is around 100K. not worried about that as I would think they can go 250k+ easily, but is there anything that starts to go wrong where major work will be required shortly after purchase?

i also realize 2007+ is a different body style than say 2006

I prefer the earlier bodystyle myself, they aren't as bloated looking and the interior isn't as cramped feeling as the newer style. Yep, I said it... "cramped" was used to describe a Suburban's interior. And they also have bumpers that aren't plastic.

Besides that, if looking at 1/2 tons, I wouldn't want one with mid-100K mileage unless the trans has been rebuilt by a reputable shop.

Are the trans that weak, even if it hasn't been used for towing?

Not sure yet on burb vs minivan, but will need something capable of 6 + cargo

I think it's a combination of the 4x4 setup with auto 4wd and people not having much common sense now a days, we had an 06 Tahoe we had to put a new transmission in I don't think it even had 60000 yet and In the next year or so we had to replace the 4 wheel drive actuator which made it immobile when it went out

They aren't really "weak", I just never trust them when they get some miles on them. If they're going to fail, they've usually already done it by 150K. They do tend to last longer than the older 700R4/4L60E though.

There is one for sale right now by someone my wife knows. 2005, 121k, lt trim, factory 20's(maybe not factory, but an option on KBB anyway), tow package, and leather. Asking 10k. Only for sale because they are crazy and have 7 kids now.

She is just unsure if she wants a vehicle that large, i say yes. Other concern is can i get a small loan on a vehicle that old? Need about 1/2 depending on final price.

And at the rate she drives, in 2 years it will hit 190k so might just want to consider something newer, unless i can find a different job and we can move.

I like those rims. And if you need it I would consider it, I couldn't let myself buy a minivan haha and it's at the 120k mark I would be prepared for some work to have to be done to it in the first few months but unless you have terrible luck I think you should be fine

We have a '07 Tahoe at work that has 250K highway miles on the ticker and its still on its original trans. We had to replace the rear and gauge cluster. It still runs and drives beautiful.

I know the pickins are slim, but try to go with a 2wd Burb if you can find one.

My wife doesn't wasn't rwd as it will be her primary vehicle. She also doesn't really want a minivan, but for our needs it is pretty much an Odyssey, Burb, or Expedition EL. I prefer the bowtie.

Not afraid of having to do some minor maintenance/tune up/ fluid changes. Just anything major because for this vehicle we won't have a backup.

FWIW, I've seen some pretty good deals on newer 3/4 ton Burbs. Then you don't really need to worry about the trans or rear end failure. And you get bigger brakes too, so think of it as a safer Burb, lol.

Well we are undecided. Will probably try and test drive some vehicles next weekend. I really the 05 i posted but she thinks it is huge(current owner moved to a full size chevy van). Not sure how user friendly it is trying to load 2 kids in car seats in the 3rd row either. Might not be bad if 2 more car seats also fit on the larger part of the 2nd row so there is easier access to the rear.

Is the second row a bench? Or split seats
