Anyone use flexpipe?

I am considering redoing my exhaust setup. for one, the kit I bought doesn't fit the truck 100%. It is a universal for several trucks made by Chevy/GM of the same generation. My main goal is to move the mufflers further back. The drone can get unbearable at times and pulling through drive-thru's isn't too fun for the employee.

So, I was thinking of pulling off the exhaust kit and string together a bunch of flexpipe. The piping itself should be cheap and will allow the relocation of the mufflers to be really easy, too.

Has anyone done this before?

EDIT: It's not flexpipe. It's a flexible tubing with ridges. Uncertain the proper name for it.

We use it on semis and it works fine. The mufflers burn out before the flex does.

Don't do it. It will rattle and come off all the time and will rust out. it comes apart at the seams. Even on Big Trucks. Its cheap though so you can do it often

I just don't want to spend $400 to get it right. I already spent that on the kit on the truck now. If the flex pipe is cheap enough, I'll use and replace as needed.

Actually, all I need is enough pipe to get around the cross member and then I can reuse the existing tubing.

Ya but the stuff will come apart at the clamps from vibration. Over time at the seams.

Well, here's the deal, I either pay a shop to make proper header pipes and have to buy catalyst in order for them to install; or, I just do it myself with the flexpipe. I understand the flexpipe will need more attention, but I just need it to get me by until I can afford the proper way.

I say get it and only run the curves you need, then the rest run straight pipe. Save for some mandrel bent pipes :)

how about this? bend your flex pipe to the needed shape and length, run down to the local exhaust shop, have them make you a pipe that size, bent and length, expand it to fit over your current pipe or make it fit inside, I reccomend, over the lead pup and inside the tail. Take it home and get two clamps, and be done. it'll last for a long time.

Our local shop only charged me 280 to run pipes from the headers back 2-1/4 and install mufflers and tailpipes, 400 is alot.

I know getting cats aint cheap though they are a hundred a pop for new ones here, or gutted ones run 35 each.

Ohhh NO. Just pay the shop and do it right. My 85 K1500 had those to get around the crossmember and Tcase from the kid who previously owned the truck. Always had leaks, clamps coming loose, and NO, they only last about 6 months to a year depending on your weather and how much you drive. I replaced both of mine twice the 2 years I drove the truck, and driving a tow truck, I didn't even drive it that often. I'd avoid the flexpipe if I could. Great for a patch or temp job to get by for a couple months til you can have it done right, but not for a permanent fix.
