Anybody ever run a 2.5" lift with 33x12.50 tires?

Unfortunately my stock wheels are 15x6, so I have to get wider ones for a 12.50 tire. I'm surprised you don't have any issues though, the general wisdom that I keep hearing is 33's won't fit without some lift. Then again my springs are sagged pretty bad, so mine would probably be a worst case.

They fit with very minor trimming. Or just a little bending like shown above. That's with an 8 inch rim though, not anything wider.

Used to run 33's on 15x10" steelies just fine at stock height. Little trimming (less than 1/2") on the fender closest to the cab. Soon as I went to mags though, the 33's rubbed like no other.

Rim choice is just as important as lift and tire size.

You'd be fine with a 33's on a 2" lift. Try not to get something that sticks out a ton, and you shouldn't have any issues with rubbing.

I was looking at an 8" wheel with 4" of backspacing. Think that'll work?

Not sure what my backspacing was... Would have to check the old rims in the morning.

You should have an easier time clearing since they're only 8" rims versus the 10's that I have.


See if anyone around has a similar sized wheel you could borrow to see if you'd have issues with it clearing. Could also measure out the approximate sizing of the 33's and see how close it gets to the fenders at ride height.

Sadly I only know one other person that's got a square, and he's running stock everything with 32's.

If possible, check the 32's on yours, see the total clearance at height. Remember that 33's are only half an inch bigger in radius. Would be much easier to measure that out than with a set of stock tires.

Depending on the brand and wear of those 32's, that could be an apples-oranges comparison. Those 32's could actually measure around a 30", while a new set of 33's of another brand could actually be around 33".

33's have been run on these trucks a bazillion times. Sometimes they fit with stock size rims without any trimming, but usually trimming is needed. A small lift usually gives enough clearance to not trim, but if the truck is really used like a truck, light trimming "might" still be needed. Rims 10 inches or wider, all bets are off... too much depends on wheel offset, spring rate and driving style.
