Who can make me a gas tank for my generator and ship it to me? This plastic tank has a crack in it and it seems everytime I go to use it, the rubber bushing for the fuel outlet leaks. So I'd prefer to have a tank made out of stainless or something that won't rust.

Just needs a fill cap on top and I'd prefer to have a bung to use a threaded outlet where I can plumb a shut off valve or replace the fitting.

I'm not real worried about the big center hole for access to the spark plug. Maybe the tank can mount to the frame in a way where I can mount it with 2 to 4 bolts and wingnuts so it's quick and easy to take the tank off. I'm not picky on the capacity either. Anywhere from 4 to 6 gallons will be fine.

In short, I just want something that is much more reliable than this plastic POS tank that's on it now.

I'm kind of pist at myself. When I moved I scrapped a stainless steel table with a bottom shelf too that would have been enough material to make this tank. Then I'd just have to find someone with a metal brake to bend the metal, weld up the joints and weld a top on it with a fill cap then drill a bung hole and weld the bung in.

If I were more of an expert, I'd happily weld up a tank for you. But the welds have got to be perfect to keep the gasoline where you want it.

Yeah, I pretty much suck at sheetmetal work and welding too for that matter. I can do it to save my life, but that's it. It'll save my life, but damn sure won't be pretty.

what about plasti-welding with a soldering iron? I did this to my washer fluid jug and it worked great. Run a soldering iron down the length of the crack, melting/pushing out plastic (push out left and right). Then push/melt it back into the crack.

I thought of that since I do have some half and quarter sheets of plexiglass.

Naww, it's a dead link goes to some other shopping site of non related ********. I do see this pic though. I wonder what the dimensions are on that tank and the capacity. For now I have a plastic tank, maybe 1/2 gallon that come off of a 5hp Roto Tiller. I just figured a metal tank would be more durable. I don't use this generator often and when I do need it, I always have to replace the rubber seal bushing for the fuel outlet. By the time I go through all the ******** to get it running, I usually just blow it off cuz I never know how long the power is going to be off. The last time I did use it was for the last big tornado and I knew for sure power was going to be off for several days, and it was about a week. When I filled the tank with gas, that's when I noticed the tank leaking from a crack it had so I could only fill it about 1/3 the way or it would leak my gas out.

I might mention too, reason I'd like to get it fixed for more permanent reliable use is, my shop electric is $1.25 a day just to have the electric there and not even flip a swtich or use any electric. That's over $40 a month and not even using electricity. So I figured until I'm in my shop more regularly, $40 buys alot of gas for the generator and for what little I need electric for at this time, I probably wouldn't spend over $10 a month in gas to run the generator.

with the plasti welding, you wont spend a dime if you have a soldering iron. The product is already there....just cracked....melt it back together, or if you feel you need more....grab a bottle cap or some scrap plastic.

What if you thread the vent side of a 1 gallon plastic can so you can thread a hose barb into it? Then you can set ii on its side on top of the generator in a milk crate.
