New to the square body world, and to the site. Enjoying reading and learning...so big thanks to everyone sharing their experience. Long story short...in 1979 my cousin purchased a Silverado 4x4, put a lift kit on it along with custom wheels and tires and I thought he had the coolest looking truck I had ever seen. Learned how to drive stick in that truck and had many an adventure in it with my cousin.

Fast forward some 40+ years later and while visiting family here in Colorado I stumbled across a 1981 Silverado for sale. Some reminiscing in my head about that badboy my cousin owned, and the price was right so 20 minutes later I was the proud new owner of this little guy. The stock 305 was replaced at about 120k miles in 2002 with a 350 crate motor. Story is not clear if the replacement was rebuilt, or new, but it runs strong.

Started with a run through the underside checking things out and installing a 4" lift with new rear springs. No doubt a ton of fun stuff in store but all is quickly each time I lock in the hubs and explore the Western Slope...so far he goes wherever asked. Digging into the interior next trying to decide between switching to bucket seats or stick with the bench....any insight or thoughts welcomed. Starter started giving me some problems today as well so would appreciate any insight there as well as I start looking for the best replacement.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome!

Personally prefer a bench seat, they look clean and are useful. Unless it's a high performance or gnarly trail rig where you would need harnesses.

Welcome.

I am a bucket guy. I feel if you wanna go steep a harness is the way to swing. I am presently looking for a few harnesses myself.

Hope you enjoy yourself here!

When I was a pup, most vehicles had never seen power door locks. So we always opened the passenger door with the round key to let your date in first, as a true gentleman should always do. Then, if she thought enough of you as a man, she would scoot over and unlock your door for you. Of course you're wishing that she stays in the center portion of the seat. There is nothing like a bench seat to have that special hottie tucked in tight to you. All this ain't gonna happen with buckets!!

I dunno, mine used to set one cheek on mine and one on the pass side. Worked out pretty good for me for the past almost 43 years!!!
