i want i BIG alternator and i was wondering if there where any vehicles i could be on the lookout for that would have an alt tht runs over 150amps or if or if there arnt whats the biggest size i can buy?

I want to say 140 amp is the biggest factory alternator that will supposedly bolt on to our trucks. Some wiring work is needed, but not much. I will be running a 200 amp but not for a stereo...I need it to run all my optional accessories.

thanks retro!, im going to do some looking around later after i do my HW i was really hoping to find something 200-350 but 140 will be good if its all i can find, right now if im correct mine is 40amps? idk whats stock or how i got that number in my head but its it, and if im correct then i have a stereo that is drawing 30amps~ and my new stereo that im getting for xmas is gonna draw anywhere from 50-100, not to mention the offroad lights and winch and cb im getting, im going to get the biggest battery i can find and do the big 3 soon.

stock for your truck could be 32, 37, 42, 55 or 60-63 amps...Or, in other words, not enough... You're welcome.

out of the alternators listed, what has a v belt pulley? i want to upgrade but the 96 alternators are serpentine belt driven and wont work on my 79 350. thanks for the help.

Swap the pulleys. Use an impact and take the nut off the front and pull the pulley off make sure to reuse any spacers off your old one nd reuse them on the new altenator witht eh V-belt pulley and put the nut back on.

I have a friend that wired in 2 alternators on his offroad truck to keep up with the lights. Not sure how he wired it tho. Run deep cycle batterys that helps out a bunch.
