I'd like to convert my 76 K10 to EFI. The systems I have been considering are the Fitech, Sniper and Edelbrock Pro Flo. Does anyone have any real world experience installing and using these systems and can provide recommendations?

I was quoted around $1800 for the Sniper kit including their dual sync distributer and in-tank fuel pump kit. I believe the Edelbrock kit is between $1800-2000. The Fitech looks to be around $1600 with their fuel management system minus the ignition.

If I were you, I’d pick up a tank for an 87, which is baffled for an in tank efi pump. Use an 87 sender and a delco ep381 pump. Upgrade any soft lines to fuel injection rated lines and make sure you have a 3/8 supply line with an inline filter from a 96+ Chevy. A 3/8” return is also recommended, but 5/16” should be adequate.

I’m currently running the Holley Sniper with a Dual sync distributor, blaster ss coil and msd 6efi cdi box. When I first put my kit together the hyper spark ignition wasn’t available. Save yourself some money and get the full hyper spark kit. It’s considerably cheaper than the dual sync and 6efi, but will do the same as far as the sniper is concerned to control timing. Dual sync is only necessary for crank triggered applications.

I’ve had good success with the sniper as have others on here. It’s TBI(sort of like 87-95 Chevy trucks) vs the pro flo’s port fuel injection.

If I were starting from scratch I’d try the pro flo. Unless of course you want it to look more like a carburetor under the hood. I’m going to order one to try on my truck to play with.

I was planning on saving the system for another project that I just picked up, but it’ll be a year or so until I get to that stage for that vehicle. I could make you a deal on all the Holley stuff if you were interested. The system has a few thousand miles on it total. You can look at my build thread if interested.

Thanks, Eskimomann. I do like back rubs but prefer a woman. However, pizza and beer sounds good. But really, thank you for the information. I had done a search on the Pro Flow but did not see that thread.

Can that system work with the fuel delivery setup posted here?

How do I configure an 87 fuel tank to work with the 76 fuel filler? I don't know the differences.

You won’t. You should get a fuel filter rated for the PSI of EFI
There are inline ones you can use that thread with -6AN fittings. Barbed ones that require FI hose clamps and even oem versions you can use. NOS ones too if that’s all you use on your rig (some people feel that even if it’s an inferior product that’s the best route any way )

the 87 tank is has baffles in it for the in tank pump. On this “fuel sender” you can mount a HP ( high pressure) pump
There are tons if videos on it.
The 76 tank does not have baffles. So the pump could starve for fuel around corners. Not good as it allows the pump to get hot as well. This design ( as opposed to inline) is quieter. The 76 has the “fuel pump” mounted to the engine block. The “thing” in the tank is really only a fuel level sender.

Now the filter on your 76 up by the carb sees barely any pressure. Hell you might even get away with NO clamps for a while, the pressure is so low.
TURN the key to activate a HP pump and if your ***** not tight and well connected, you will know where ALL the leaks are. (don’t smoke while attempting this )

BUT seriously all this info and much much much much more is available on the google. Sometimes my google looks like this
GMsquarebody efi swap -eskimomann209

the -eskimomann209 will allow google to ignore some of my threads. LOL

All good information.
I have been following the "It's Here" thread and really like the way that system looks.
I have been formulating a plan to stuff a Gen 6 454 into my '54 Bel Air and that system just might make the cut when the time comes.
They make fuel injection tanks for just about everything now a days.
I found one for my '54 that has all the EFI needs plus an extra 2 gallons built in.

How would I plumb a filter into the system?

What do you think about the universal sump systems?

Filter in my opinion depends on the system and style of fuel lines you want to use.
Some people like the Sump style. With the 87 tank and pump mod being an option I’d go that route. UNLESS you just bought all new stuff. Tank/ sender/ lines- and wanna reuse that stuff.

also thing to consider dual tanks and if you wanna keep them. The sump might be easier to use in that case. BUT I would still make a double efi setup with Gmachinz wiring setup for it.

Theres alot of info in here already so I'll try not to add to much.

I have a sniper setup an I've installed several others. They are great systems an of you're going to run timing control make sure you follow the directions to a T. Make good connections, an keep any an all sniper wiring away from spark plug wires as much as possible. I highly recommended moroso ultra 40 plug wires for there noise suppression qualities.

On the fuel system I also recommend the 87 tank, sender and the ep381 pump for a stockish motor. For a filter you can also use one from an 87 with adapters to AN or rubber hose if you'd like. The 87 filter was used up into the 2000s on some vehicles so it's pressure rating is high enough.

Imo stay away from FiTech but there are people that have had good luck with them. I just feel at the price point the holley or edelbrock systems are a better value an offer better technical support. I'm holley tier 2 certified myself if you have any other questions about the sniper or other holley systems.

Does that sending unit for the 87 tank have a return? I see three hose connections.
