The majority of the time when I drive my truck it has a purpose, and it's usually to haul something in the bed. This is also the time I get frustrated because of the lack of tie down points in our trucks, comparatively speaking to my 05 Sierra at least. The stake pockets are usually not my first choice as they are generally above the item I am trying to tie down.

What have you done to add additional, more useful anchor points in your bed? Pics would be great. I just started thinking about this and am still looking at options, and thinking of some custom stuff I might be able to fab at work.

McMaster - Carr has a wide selection of D-rings and tie-downs. And, in my experience, they always have real decent prices:

Those recessed ones look good. Never noticed them before. They would be tough to mount on the bed floor (due to the corrugation) but could be mounted vertically into the inner bedsides?

Lots of options in chengny's links. I have four of the number 2's on the first page, they're new and you can have 'em if they'll work for you, just pay USPS shipping. Can post better pics than the link if you have any interest.

Used an eye bolt and ran it through the side of the rear stake holes. Made it much nicer to use tie down straps or bungees.

I also need better tie down points.

Maybe from the bed of a newer truck at a junkyard/PAP?
