AC runs ROUGH , almost growls

The 87 I'm building, I believe has been converted over to 134.... But it runs real rough almost growls.... What could be causing this.....

I here yah brother. However mine does sound like it's going to rattle it's way out of the engine compartment. Been too dam muggy around here lately to have no a/c.

Last year, my AC worked just fine and it has been converted to the new standard as well. However, I turned it on today for the 1st time and I think it is shot. The belt driving the pulley squeaks loudly telling me the pulley is seizing. I don't drive the truck enough to really warrant using the AC, but I wanted to test it for coldness.

The pancake style compressor is prone to growing at low idle. It's it doing it at all rpms ?

Only at idle.....

Ya mine does it to... so I shut it off at idle. To have a awesome sounding truck lol sad but true

well a little more info. is the high idle kicking on? also you must run your ac at least once a month to keep everything lubed. or else you will have premature failure. highdesertranger
