A bit of information, VIN K on 2wd Truck?!?!?

So I know some people are prolly going to scratch theirs heads but I am just confirming information. I recently bought a 1986 GMC K2500 that has a 6.5 diesel and is 2wd. From my knowledge wasn’t the K series trucks 4WD and C series 2WD or am I missing something? The truck has IFS. Again, just trying to see if there is information im missing on why the truck is a K series but not 4WD. Thanks in advance.

In the vin it is K. But there’s no 4WD parts on the truck. This is why I’m confused

somone swapped the cab from another truck because it had a good tittle is my guess.

Yep, My guess is a Cab Swap project.

Someone also did an engine swap too if it's a 6.5 Diesel. Our trucks came with a 6.2. Though a 6.5 is a bolt in swap, it's from a newer truck. There were even 6.5 Turbo D also.

Yes GM did the engine swap in 2000 with a reman 6.5 Tubro. And the problem has been solved. My brother is blind and it is a C in the VIN. Thanks for humoring me. Soon I’ll be swapping the transmission out and throwing in a NV4500. Been told it’s bout the best you can get behind the 6.5 Turbo for a manual trans.

The SM465 with a Gear Vendors overdrive box is a less expensive stouter setup. You can tow in overdrive with the GV. 5th gear will back off the shaft on the NV4500 if you tow in OD.
