Yeah that new style of mirror intended to be used on the GMT400 has no room to fit on a squarebody door so part of it overhangs the glass whereas the old manual mirrors mount completely below the glass on the sheet metal. But as the Burbs and Blazers retained the old body style for a few more years they stuck the new style mirrors on the old doors in an effort to "refresh" the styling and make the truck look more modern and kind of "match" the style of the new trucks (same with the belt molding and 1500 badges). They've always looked very out of place on squares IMO. They put that black area there so you're not staring at the back of the power mirror, no real way to get rid of it. I worked at a couple salvage yards in the the mid 00s right when these late squares were more popular to be showing up on the lot. We didn't even list them as interchangeable because people would have a **** fit over it if they tried to put it on an older truck
