It set the code 33 because the sensor was out of range for what the engine was doing (no vacuum).

May need to do an idle relearn with the MAP hooked up.

Also, if the gas is that old and crappy, it can make it run poor and unstable too.
So the same sequence with setting the truck in diagnostic mode, unplugging the IAC..... Etc etc etc?

You can do that or just cycle the ignition a few times and start the truck a couple times. Each time you turn off the ignition, the pintle retracts fully. When the truck starts, the pintle starts extending to slow the idle.

I really just need to move this whole thread to a common thread, like a "project truck" thread at this point lol

Suppose to be a daily driver, but I'm going thru the truck top to bottom lol lol

Still kinda running like ass after the relearn for the map.
About the same as when I plugged the map back up

Barely wants to run in gear lol, but I smell old gas like hell, that has to be the issue at this point.

How old is the fuel? How much is in the tank?

She was probably at the last mark on the gauge when I first climbed in it forever ago, I added 5 gallons of 87 octane, then a few Months ago poured in more 87 octane....
Then dad tells me "because of the compression you only want to run 93"
But lower octane has wouldn't cause this, I'd just have spark knock.
This is poor idle, stinky old gas.

The gas that was in the truck when I first laid hands on it was 5 years old.

The gauge is now about where it was when I first hopped in.

There's no doubt at this time old gas is the culprit of poor idle...
I mounted up the new tires just now and was riding up the driveway, it was spinning both tires just above idle up the driveway lol

But she looks good with new shoes.

Next up is new brake fluid and booster when I have time, and a alignment.

Dad said "back when she ran good, you could boil the tires from a dead stop at idle"

I wanna get back to that state... And with the torque I'm seeing with a overhauled tbi, it might be more power than he saw.

Any merit to the reset procedure of the IAC?
tried it.
Reset the Ecm (unplugged battery)
Stuck my special key into the ALDL into the A and B jumpers to put it into diagnostic mode, the IAC plunger extended fully, I then unplugged it, turned the truck off, then plugged the IAC back up and removed the key from the A and B jumpers.

Resetting ECM now to see how it does.

this.

that procedure can be vital in my experience. Problem is I bet the thermostat wasnt open.

Please try again.

Is the adjustment that sensitive?

Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

yes.

Pro-tip=
paint those adjustment screw threads with WHITE-OUT.
That way , the adjustment will stay put.

Reckon if you try that outside of closed loop you may have better luck.

lightbulbs turnin on across the land...:) :)

well, kinda.

Maybe slow down a minute...take it easy man. It's never a bad idea to go back and double check a few points - maybe now is a good chance.
