I have an 87 V10 with a 350 and 700r4. It had been sitting at my dad’s for several years without being driven. I’m working through a few problems but the biggest right now is the transmission doesn’t want to move into reverse when cold. I have found a 305tbi that comes with a 700r4 that has about 85k miles on it. My questions are 1-will the transmissions easily swap and if so is there anything I should replace while swapping? 2-My current ac compressor locked up and the 305 has one. Can I just swap compressors and would I need to swap over to r134? Thanks in advance for your help.

The transmission swap is easy. The compressor compare the 2 if they are the same swap them. Also change the reciever dryer and as many O rings as you can get to while you are doing it. Swapping to r134 is probably your most affordable option for charging it.

is the compressor pully seized or the compressor itself? If it had an internal failure there will be metal tossed throughout the system. Will require flushing and possibly more replacement parts.

The compressor was just noisy and rattling all of the time. I just took the belt off and used a smaller one to operate the power steering pump.

If you swap the transmission, rear main seal jumps out easy. Look for signs of leaking or wear.
