Does cutting the coil off the spring negatively impact ride quality or put the ball joints at a compromising angle?

No sir, mine ride the same as stock IMHO.

:hmm: good tip then! I'll have to keep that in mind for sure. I'm all about saving a few bucks as long as it doesn't have an adverse affect on safety or ride quality

I just took a coil out of my front springs for a 2" drop. No issues in ride quality or alignment. The alignments shop had to do very little to bring it back to stock spec's.

It's not cheap (approx. $400), but to lower the rear and keep all the original mounts, shackles, no cutting, etc., I installed a set of drop leaf springs from Western Chassis. I was very happy with the result.

I have a 86 gmc c1500 and was wondering what all is required to drop it even or past top of tire and level? Also don't want to modify the frame or front geometry? Any suggestions

It sound like a 2.5/4in drop would be best for you. Drop spindles in the front and drop hangers and shackles in the rear.

I found out after removing the springs on the front end the one loop has been cut out. I e heard that it lowers the truck 2" is that true? And also can I still put on drop spindles and not have to change the factory steering components?

Yes, one round cut off the stock springs will lower the front 2in and drop spindle are a direct bolt on including stock steering components.

Good deal but would that require a 6" drop in the back to make it level?

So what can I do to get 1" drop in the front since the springs see already cut and what do u think about drop shackles and brackets in the rear to give it a 4" total drop?

After last message I had a friend of mine that slammed his Ford F-150 said it was pretty easy but if I do a 4/6 or 5/7 drop would I have to change any of the steering components tie rods, stock controls arms etc? Other than bolt on kit from beltech or western chassis would I have to make any other mods to the truck? I know I will have to notch the frame ,cut the bed support, flip rear end. Any other that I forgot?

Cut out the bumpstop mount would be the only mod needed for a 4/6 or 5/7 drop.

CPP, Western Chassis, Belltech, McGaughys. These are all good companies.

I'll get you some pics I have removed everything from cab back planning on sandblasting and then coat with bed liner. What leaf spring bushings would you recommend? 1 1/2" main eye
