OP lucky for you the “77” bed is not a 77. It’s 79 or newer which means even the fuel doors/caps work. Direct swap.
Idk what year tailgate hardware switched but very likely that’s the same too.

IIRC, the only unique bed feature of my ‘75 Camper Special was two cutouts in the front panel. The ElimiPitch camper brackets bolt to the back of the cab, and stick through those holes in the front panel and into the bed. Shock absorbers then bolt to the brackets and to the camper.
The Camper Special also has brackets bolted to the top of the front fenders near the cab, and another set of shock absorbers bolt there and run up to the camper overhang.

Current bed on my ‘75 is from an early 80’s truck. Tailgate is a different design, and I had to also pull the filler hoses to match the filler doors, but it bolted on just like the original bed.

I have never got the opportunity to compare them side by side, year by year, in my brain the mounting would be the same pattern but from what I'm reading it's not.

I thought I was set straight but now I'm reconsidering  as it seems I'm faced with going down a rabbit hole. When "King" Seymore :worthy: enters the conversation, it's usually an educational experience. @Keith Seymore

Right. Cab and Chassis were available as 30903 (basically a pickup with box delete, RPO ZW9 "base body); 31003 and 31403.

Three different wheelbases.

Not sure yet.

This confirms what I was thinking earlier. I couldn't, for the life of me, figure out why the trailering special cab would have the camper special bed. Someone in the truck's history swapped the bed. Great for me since I'm planning on putting the "77" bed on the 81.
