I see rustoleum primer, unless it's self etch don't expect it not to rust. I used some on dad's truck and it rusted under the primer and came thru after the paint went on, really made me mad.

I only use self etching primers on bare metal. Then I'll use whatever on top of that

I only use self etching primers on bare metal. Then I'll use whatever on top of that

Yep, me too. I also use a metal cleaner before I shoot the self etching primer. I never thought it mattered and thought I always go bare metal clean enough. But I let this sales rep talk me into this junk, and believe it or not, it did seem to make a difference and prime jobs lasted much longer and never rusted thru. Something to do with the etching to adhere even better. :shrug:

I'll probably go over all of it later with some epoxy primer


I also use a metal cleaner before I shoot the self etching primer.

Jeah dawg. I wiped the bitch down with some reducer before spraying
