I have a 77 GMC truck. I think it's a 2500.
The truck would not start one day after letting someone else drive it. The tumbler would turn really loosely when I put the key in. I figured it needed a new tumbler. So I bought one and a steering wheel puller and tore into the column to get at the ignition. I found that the ignition did not need to be replace, but there was a broken part inside the column.
It is supposed to be in one piece and it is the mate to the gear on the other side of the ignition tumbler.
Is there a way to get a new one of these and be able to get into the column to replace it? Or am I going to have to replace the whole column?
