A wonderful bodyshop damaged my VIN tag while repairing a latch striker. I am able to legally have a new tag made but am missing info on the right 25% of the tag and a little on the top as they cut right through it and lost part of it. If anyone has a similar C10, I'd appreciate if you are able to help me out!

Its a '77 C10.

The Info I have:
My Vin: CCL447F428XXX
You must be registered for see images attach

The GAWR Front is 3250
Tires F/R: LR78 x 15 C

What I need is:
GVWR:
Possibly 6200 as I have the very bottom but would like to confirm.
GAWR Rear (I have the 1st 2 digits): 37XX
Tire Pressures:

Any of the Camper Loading CC Data: ( I have the left side) CWR 1117DIM A 71 1M D1M xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thanks,
Ben

Unfortunately the vin is unique to your truck, and the last six digits is it's (identity). So you need to get it off the title or you need to find the spid sheet or there should be a vin on the top of the frame rail as a last resort, if the frame is original to the cab.

The rest of it someone here will for sure be able to help you.

Do you have the owners manual?

A'79 had a front GAWR of 3,250; a rear GAWR of 3,489; and a total GVWR of 6200. Yours is going to be pretty close to that.

I do, however no weights are listed and the tire pressure data is more of algebraic formula such as if using x tire at x pressure = y load. What I need is someone to look at their plate for same tire and truck and for example 28 front / 30 rear.

I'm hoping that someone has a similar truck but if I don't get the info, I will probably make up a best guestimate based off what I have and what you posted. Thank you!

The Gm heritage center might provide the info needed

Thank you for reminding me of this resource! Exactly what I needed.

I found my weights based on the info I already had. There is probably 15 different combinations of weights for '77 C10's alone based on suspension, trans, motor, brakes, etc

I looked through a bunch of online VIN plates and was able to find tire pressures based on my posted tire size. Again there is 20 different tire pressures out there.

Only thing I couldn't find was camper info which I decided to just leave off and ordered my replacement tag this afternoon.

I'd make up something for the camper info before I left it off. That would be a big red flag to anyone looking at your truck.

Where are you ordering the tag from?

Here's the closest I could come up with for your tag.

I had them put in some camper info that I had. I actually found d quite a few tags that had zero camper info on them so not too worried. Important thing is all my vins match on body, frame, title, etc.

Ordered off ebay from a vendor outside the country. I could only find one vendor still in business that still stamped/embossed. The rest just print or etch the info.

This is the best answer IMO. I can’t find the person I used anymore but his statement is exactly what I have done in the past.
eBay, give dude info. Comes out of the country but looks like a real VIN. A shrewd LEO might know the difference but they’d have to look pretty hard

It came out nearly perfect. The dimensions were just a a few thou off but it looks factory. Obviously, an LEO is going to be able to tell that the VIN plate has been off the truck during a repaint but again, it looks right and my VINs match.
