Not sure if this is the correct forum... correct me if it needs to go elsewhere.

I have a '75 Blazer - took off the top, put on new quarters, doors, front fenders, rockers, floors, tailgate (was a rust-bucket - is a project with my 15 year old son)...

Everything lines up pretty well except the top.

The tailgate, bolted to the original hinges, lines up perfectly with the rear quarters... doors line up with the rear quarters etc... but I cannot get the top to fit such that the window in the tailgate correctly lines up with the window channels in the top - its close but about 1/4 to 1/2 inch 'long' - if that makes sense.

Any thoughts?

I've owned two '71 Blazers - this is my first squarebody...

Thanks for any help.

Can't imagine that, unless you shortened the body somehow but it doesn't sound like it. Old gasket still on part of it? So like its doubled up somewhere?

Could the problem be new gaskets / seals on the top?

I have not replaced anything on the top. I guess the take-away is that most folks with these tops do not have issues with getting them off an on...????

The takeaway is most folks don't have a 73-75 Blazer! The one I had was a plow truck and didn't have it long enough to use in fair weather!
Sounds like the body has a little belly in it. Not alot of structure left if you have the fenders quarters doors and floors removed or cut out.
Maybe try jacking up the body in the middle with the front and rear body mounts still connected and see if it flexes a little.
Slight chance you welded the floors back in and the body was sagging a bit?

Thanks for the reply.

Not really possible on the floors - but I guess it would be possible for the new quarters to be 'short'...but then I don't think they would align correctly with the tail-gate nor with the door pillars.. which the quarters do (align correctly).

My '71 top fit pretty easily... so since this is my first 'square' full-vert... I was thinking maybe these just don't align very easily...

Anyone else with a square full-vert that would have some experience on the top?

I don't have any experience with this, but it sounds like something is being overlooked here. If it fit fine before you disassembled it and now it doesn't, you've botched something or are just overlooking something simple when trying to put it back together.

As with most things on a car forum, pics help... if nothing else it makes me want to keep going into these threads.

Yeah, just an off the wall suggestion. Please let us know how you fix it once you find out the issue.

Hi - Not sure on the blazer, but the sub tailgate has adjusters for the winding mech in the tailgate. There are two small panels in the base of the gate that have to be removed to access. If you search for threads around converting barn door to tailgate, these are sometimes mentioned. Also make sure you have the correct bailey channels in place. There are different models, and some push the glass over too much. Can you post some pics, especially of the steel body windshield top mounting surface. I have a 76/77 that I want to convert to full roof. Hope this helps - Cheers
