It's not quite rust free but the rust is very minimal. I thought about converting it to a manual car but when I bought my 401 it came with an amc cased th400. All out of a Jeep wagoneer I just have to get a different output shaft and tailhousing to convert it to a 2wd setup. I had planned to get one at the junkyard but now winter is here and I don't want to go roll around in the muck. May have to just find the parts online or check the transmission shops and see what they have.

My uncle ran the auto shop for a american motors dealership.so one time I got to work on the javelin and the amx.warenty jobs.people we're racing them and hurting them

Repaired the heads and replaced transmission,s.they would send down what ever on the new car carrier,s.

Most of the time.had four of the cars at one time.cause had to wait on parts.like a trans.they were so easy to work on.

We really lost something.when the vehicle,s of the fifties and sixties and seventies.were gone.they we're all built to run and last

Look at the junk built today.most in recall right off the lines.

Yeah the older rigs are just so simple. No sensors and computers and junk to go wrong.

Well no picture updates and progress is slow but the 401 block is at the machine shop and checked out good. He did 30 over and that cleaned everything up nice. He’s putting cam bearings in this week and then the block should be done. I got my ati damper in and am waiting on my billet flex plate to arrive and then I can have everything balanced and hopefully start getting the engine back together soon.
