700r4 Manual Valve Body

Hey all, I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a manual valve body, I have the option of engine braking or no engine braking. This truck is going to see a lot of street use. Which would be more preferable and why? Is the engine braking abrupt or is it comparable to say, letting off the throttle with a 4 speed manual. For non engine braking, in my mind that seems like more of a stock type feel. Is getting back into the throttle from coasting going to be an issue? Fuel economy is obviously not a top priority but with engine braking is it to the point that it is drastically less efficient than non engine braking?

I didn’t know anyone offered manual valve body for a 700. I knew TransGo offered a kit to convert a stock valve body.

A manual valve body without engine braking has to be driven the right way. I’m not sure if a 700 is like a 400/350 trans, but if you like your feet attached to your legs, DO NOT downshift while moving. Don’t let up on the throttle, then get back into it. Don’t nuetral the trans while at speed, any of these situations can roll the intermediate sprag, or cause the direct drum to explode from over speeding.

I’d get with the valve body manufacturer and discuss your plans and get their recommendations.

This is what can happen when the direct drum explodes.
