Hmmm, never heard of or seen of one of those cases with the pressure taps, gotta be rare if there is such a thing, gonna have to keep my eye out for one now..
Yes, maybe a Unicorn !!! But I'd like to have one. I was told they do exist and they are very rare. It's almost as if they may have only been made for 3 weeks or a month. It seems I read it in a book and why I believed it. Now you know if I had read it on the internet, I'd know for 110% positive it was true. But here's what gets me and makes me think that book is wrong or it's a unicorn, or maybe it was just a GM Prototype even as they made changes at the trans R&D factory, Pressure taps ended in 86 right? In 87 the case it different and they ARE NOT backwards compatible without heavy mods. So, it's not like in 87 they used the left over 86 cases. That's what makes me think they REALLY do not exist. But if they do, I want one. You smell what I'm steppin' in there?

Do you mean, for the rare 89 HotRod mentioned? The one I'm modifying now has all those taps.. but it's an 86. TV started acting up, so now was as good a time as any to do it before it hurt anything.

Yeah, that's an 86 is supposed to have those taps. The 87 and later cases DO NOT have those taps. Except for this Unicorn case we're talking about and as said I wonder if it even REALLY exists. It may have been a few made for the GM R&D team as they made corrections and improvents only. Like maybe only 5-10 made just for R&D.

Correct, now the rainbow casting line was never mentioned if it had it or not so I don't know about that, but it's 87 model cases with the taps.

Gotcha. @74 Shortbed

@HotRodPC And that makes sense about using up the leftover 86s so it does sound like wishful thinking. Never know though I suppose.

Oh ok, my bad I thought you meant some of the rainbow ones had them, but 87 shouldn't have them either.

Looks it was 87 that had both the rainbow & taps... not 89. Here's a unicorn. So this had a Aux VB then.

Well guess what... I just found a page that said they can go up to 89... so HotRod was correct afterall. Here's the link to some of the info I found... and an image of an 88 700r4

Never paid attention to the pressure taps. On a side note, here are couple of pictures from a 700r4 that the output shaft seal failed while on a long drive and it got really hot and low on fluid

That's from using a plastic seal instead of the new Viton seal.
