I'm hoping they'll warranty it. If not I'm going to weigh out my options, and pick another tranny shop.

it was a play on the, “Shitcan it, LS swap” narrative.

Hopefully they’ll stand behind it. Are they an ATRA shop? If so, the warranty should be honored by any ATRA shop, right?

I have no idea what an ATRA shop is. But I'll check when I go there. But, the warranty is up. But they told me they still stand behind their work, warranty or no. We'll see

A 305....AND...th700. I always wondered what happens when you have two weak links in a chain. I'm with Frankenchevy, shitcan it, NV4500 swap!

Lol. The tranny probably burned up because it couldn't handle all the ponies coming from the 305 powerhouse.

What is a NV4500? How extensive is the swap? And what are the benefits? What are the cons?

Nv4500 is a five speed manual. It’s not difficult per se, but time consuming finding all the right stuff. The benefits are strength, gear ratio spread and less drivetrain losses. Cons are time and money.

Yeah im just waiting on my 700r4 to grenade now that ive added a few more ponies. I am definitely stressing it more now than when it was a 305.
I really hope the warranty covers it friend.

So is RE-GEARING a 700r4 a thing? I would assume its been done at least once right?

I bought a new Blazer in 1982. first year of the 700r4. I had a choice of the 350 or 700r4 trans. I picked the 700r4, big mistake. The dealer did tell me to never tow in overdrive no matter what the owners manual says.

Do I not put the truck in OD while towing? I just assumed it wouldn't shift into OD if it wasn't okay to do so

Early OD transmissions (700 and 440) didn't make good shifting decisions. One way to make them live longer was to not use OD except when at steady highway cruise. If either of those transmissions are toggling in and out of OD, you will soon have a bad transmission.
