Polished the grill and front bumper today on lunch. What do you think about that?

Sweet! Took me about 2 hours to polish mine, swapped it to 69 grill , didn't like the black highlight on the 71 grill.

By hand today. Took my whole lunch break and then some lol. I didn't think it would take this long. I still have all the trim, the hub caps, around the windows, tail lights, and the back bumper to do. Then a wax job.

It still has an off idle miss. Not sure if it's the carb or maybe electrical. High speed is good and idle is good but if you are pulling a hill and just barely moving you can notice a miss.

How is your fuel filter situation? I'm sure you put a new one on the carb, but do you have a canister type back by the tank? If so, maybe it's clogged.

I've not been in the tank yet. new one in the carb though. The tank is on the to do list because my gauge isn't working from a sank float or bad ground maybe.

Not in the tank, where the rubber line is between the line coming from the tank and the line on the frame that goes up to the pump. I added one there for extra filtering. Maybe you have one there?

Can you do me a favor? Can you get a pic or two or three of the tank behind the seat? I want to compare the shape of the tank to the one in Crusty. At least how the sending unit mounts. I think these trucks had 3/8" lines coming from the tank, and I want to have 3/8" on mine, right now it's 5/16", and I don't think 5/16" will cut it with vortec heads installed.

My seat doesn't tilt forward so this is as much room as I have without pulling the seat. You might have to wait until upholstery time lol.

Just curious. I've had those projects where I start out with a small spot by hand "just to see how well it will clean up", and an hour and a half later, I'm still working by hand and am 3/4 of the way done, lol.

That's pretty much what I'm into. No cool buffer ball in my toolbox...

Thanks for the photos. The tanks mount differently. The overall tank size looks similar, but the shape is different. The sending units may interchange, will have to look into that.

Mine had the stone filter in the carb (Q-jet), and metal filter between fuel pump and carb on front of block next to water pump. About the random miss, assuming this is stock distributor, have you checked the dwell on the points? Can also be caused by weak condenser. Alot of my old running issues like random lean/rich went away with a new set of points/condenser.
