I need to get another set. I tried to steal mine back from under my buddies jeep after that prank but they were gone!
Check that coupon out. You can print off right there in the thread if it hasn't expired. I think it might have been a New Years day only special. Better than half off. I like my 6 ton HF cheap jackstands. I think I will look into a set of the 12 tons though. Never know when I might need to work on the box van with a heavy load on it.

More importantly than weight capacity is lift height if you're going to make a lifted 4x4 out of all them parts you got lol. I had buddies ask me when I was gonna underpin mine, because I had some God awful set of cement block piers under it.

You want to talk about some jackstands. I know a guy who had some acetylene cylinders that the gubment threw away. He cut them down to like 24 inches, welded a wide base plate on the bottom of them, and wa la !!! Had some brute strength jack stands for his lifted rig. Non adjustable, but still, strong as cood be and kept the tires 6 inches off the ground.

The set I lost pranking my buddy were just 3 ton units, They were the perfect height for getting my 31 inch tires a couple inches off the ground. That worked great for the brake job.

Pulling the trans I just stuck cinder blocks under the tires for an additional 10 inches of clearance.

When I start the axle swap I'll need something that can handle all the droop the springs have. Usually the hood looks like it's almost 8 feet off the ground, and that's with the tires off.

You wouldn't want to cut the gas bottles off then. Just weld a base plate to them. :laughing1:

I printed the coupon when it was first posted, it's good through today. Looked around the net this morning and can't find any more links to the discount price.

What I'd really want is to build a garage/shop and put a hydraulic lift in it! :) No more need for jack stands ;)

Cheaper to go down than up, dig a lube pit and line it with concrete block. That way you don't need a 20 foot ceiling.

Then you still need jack stands if you need to do anything with the wheels off, right? :)

True. I looked at both options when I did my garage addition. The lift was just flat-out too expensive and the pit turned into a logistical nightmare. Since the addition was permitted I would have had to comply with building code standards, which apparently are the same ones used for constructing bomb shelters. I was already at my $20k budget so a solid slab went in...which is why I'm going to get those stands today.

:) Yeah, the lift idea is a very expensive one and probably one i'll never be able to pull the trigger on. The only time the possibility might become a reality is when we move in a couple of years to a bigger place. Where I'm at now there's absolutely NO room to even consider a lift OR a pit. I would consider a pit only because it'd make things like oil changes, lubes and other minor maintenance stuff SO much easier.
