I do believe that Isuzu had way more to do with the design than GM did. The style of bracketry, hardware, wire looming, etc is all Isuzu type and not GM. At least with the '07 and older medium duty ones I've messed with.

I remember reading that back when. I also read that Isuzu was the second largest manufacturer of diesel engines in the world…at least at the time. I believe Mercedes was number one.
