Ive always been confused on that statement..... wich way is taller from 411? I always hear guys debate wich way taller means? I went from 308 to 342, did i go taller or shorter? Just want a lil clarification. Then either get a taller tire or taller gearing.

I take that back. The rim:sidewall ratio makes it look like a 17” rim...What’s the hp/tq of your engine? Pic looks like 285/75r16. Is that accurate?

If you want you'r cake and eat it too, as in don't want to lose torque, but want lower rpm at a higher speed, there's only 2 ways to accomplish this. Either taller tires, or overdrive. However, taller tires tend to eat up that torque too. If it's a 2wd, I'd be highly considering a 4L80-E. Gear Vendor is an option too but very expsive not only for the unit itself, but the mods to make it work as in driveshaft work, crossmember moving and/or addition etc.I removed my rear diff cover and the spider gears where chewed up but the ring and pinion looks good.thought of going with a 3:73 but don’t want to loose the torque.
I'm assuming he means 55mph max safe cruising speed. I'd hope to hell he can do over 55. In my old 64 GMC, I had a Th350 without lock up 4.56s and 31in tires. 60 ish was my 3000 ish cruise speed. Of course back then the speed limit was 55 so it wasn't so bad.what RPM you running. you should be be able to make it to a much higher MPH even with the 4:11 gears but you RPM will be higher.
in my chevelle i ran a th400 and 4:56 and it would run roughly 130mph at 6500 with 28” tall tires. 55mph should be no problem
I can assure you, it would be even more fun to drive with 4.10's or 3.73's. The difference in pep is night and day especially if you're one of those that's likes to hotrod from stop light to stop light or getting on the freeway without any problem and having enough get up and go to get well ahead of the traffic flow to merge instead of having to let off to let traffic go by so you can duck in behind the traffic flow.I know this doesnt help much but the 72 c 10 I used to have, i could cruise 60mph very comfortably. I decided to stand on it once for the hell of it to see if I could bury the speedometer. It would. Fairly easily So it would do an honest 100mph. This pickup had a stock 1972 350 with stock th 350 trans and 3.08 gearing. That was a great pickup. Very fun to drive.
