I "heard" it is a direct swap, no changing wires. Disclamer: I am not an expert on this.

I'm pretty sure you'll at least need a new PCM for this but I'd research over on performancetrucks.net as this swap has been quite a bit over there.

well supercharger was too much for the old 5.3. Blew the #7 piston out time for new engine. Gonna see about putting supercharger on the 78.

if you get the drive by wire engine (6.0) then it SHOULD be a bolt in replacement. i know for a fact that the earlier drive by cable lm7's, and the lq4's have the same wiring just a different PCM. you may have a little issue with VATS, i believe 07's have some kind of chip in the key that triggers VATS. i have a thread covering the necessary process to correct it if you can get your hands on the software (HPtuners) to fix it if it becomes an issue

We did one at the shop. Customer broke a timing chain on a 5.3 and we had the 6.0 sittin in the shop. Just replace engine and PCM. All the wires and sensors are the same. If you use the 6.0 heads you will need to use the 6.0 manifolds also. The 5.3 manifolds wouldnt fit. Cant remember if the plugs were an issue or what. I didnt do the swap just remember that was a problem.

BTW anybody ever seen a timing chain break on an LS before? Im curious as to what caused it since Ill be bringin that shortblock home soon.

Never heard of that before on an LS, but everyone that does cam swaps does the LS2 timing chain upgrade.
