A original kingpin 60 front here, maybe 1000
14b ff rear with a Detroit or whatever would be a 800$ investment.
Just a 1/2 ton k10 6.2 or 5.7 will run ya anywhere from 2500-7000

I'm asking $5K for my 82 1 ton dually flatbed with freshly rebuilt 1991 TBI 350, rebuilt 700-R4. I've done a lot to the truck, including upgrading the instrument panel from the original idiot light style. Got $2K just in the tires, mounting and balancing. $5K is stealing the drivetrain and tires, getting the rest of the truck free. :p

Rear axle is 4.56:1 with the overdrive that should make it around 3.70:1

It needs finished. Selling it because I don't need it now. Dad and I were fixing it up to be our hauler for machine tools we refurbished, instead of borrowing a friend's truck. Dad died of cancer September 2018, we'd quit working on lathes etc before then so work on the truck stalled.

Would be ideal for CA or NY because it never had emissions controls so anything can be done to it and those states can't say boo about it.

Square bodies aren't getting any more common. They don't last long in the yards around here. If the truck had a 700-R4 then the #1 item to go first is the steering column. I've spent plenty more than $5K on mine. I shouldn't be expected to lose 90% of what I have in it.

When the heck is some company going to make an overdrive shifter retrofit kit for three speed auto columns? Unless there's some special secret to apply to the linkage, you can only get a 3 speed shifter to sit correctly in one place with a 700-R4. The tilt column I put in mine was supposed to have come from a Suburban with factory fitted 700-R4 but it has a 3 speed shifter. I took too long getting it installed to be able to return it. It's adjusted to sit properly in Park but everywhere else it relies on the detent spring in the transmission. I know lots of people live with that in their old GM trucks and vans, but dammit we shouldn't have to.

That's the problem. The 4 speed shift plate in the column is unobtainable except for taking it from an original 4 speed column. Nobody makes reproductions of that part. SOME COMPANY NEEDS TO! They should also make them for older trucks that never had a 4 speed auto option.

Around here that’s a totally fair price, keep in mind these trucks are few and far between on the gov websites. Where as 5 years ago you could still buy them for 1k-2k

There are three of them on the government surplus site for sale in Oregon right now for under $500
