4X4 V1500 SUBURBAN JACKING AND JACKSTAND PLACEMENT

Hi there folks,
I'm in need of some guidance. The brakes on my Suburban are squealin pretty bad.

I will be doing the brakes soon and need to know where the recommended lifting points are. I have a 3 ton floor jack. My instinct is to go for the differential pumpkin but I've seen some people saying that the plug welds will pop.

So where should I jack up to get both front wheels up at the same time. Same question for the rear.

Once the truck is lifted, where should I place my jackstands? I thought I saw something about using the axle tube. I know on unibody cars, it's the pinchweld.

I see this but it's for replacing a flat.


I'll add some photos of the underbody in case someone wants to just circle it or something.

I've been lifting mine by the pumpkin 38 of its 49 years and never had a problem. Yes, put the jackstands under each end of the tube.

You have to remember, the instructions for jacking are for a flat tire front/rear. What @Snoots said. ^^^

the way I've always looked at it. The pumpkin is lower to the ground, so less time jacking to lift and get jack stands under it.

You won’t hurt anything by lifting/supporting from the pumpkins or axle tubes.

It's what I assumed based on the fact that the tow ratings are higher than vehicle weight. If it's fine enough to tow 7000lb with, it should be fine to support the ~3000lb when jacking up.
