Experts,

I have searched and tried to dig through the plethora of post revolving around Headers for these trucks. First, the search engine for this forum is hot garbage, lol!

My setup, new 383 stroker (aluminum heads), in the mail, going in my 1986 C10 Silverado LWB.

HP & Torque: 430 HP / 450 FT LBS
Compression Ratio: 10.0:1

Cam Specs:
Cam Type - Roller
.528 Intake .536 Exhaust
221 Intake / 226 Exhaust duration
@.050 - 110 degree lobe separation

Aluminum Heads:
64cc chamber
2.02" intake/1.60" exhaust valves
195cc intake/75cc exhaust runners

I need to have everything purchased BEFORE the motor goes in. because I have limited time in a friends shop to take up a lift.

I currently have some old steel long tube headers on her. I want to upgrade to a ceramic coasted set...for longevity and the ones on there refuse to seal up properly.

What do you all suggest? I am leaning towards the Headman Blackmaxx long tube. Good price, decent reviews, decent price. I also want something I can bolt up a header back exhaust kit too. My current exhaust may work, but I want options. Now is the time to upgrade since she will be down and apart.

What is the absolute best gasket to use for them to seal up properly? I understand the re-torque process, but I want to have the absolute best advantage to have them seal up without having to readjust anything.

Thanks for the help!

Josh

I like to run the aluminum dead-soft type gaskets, they work well and are offered by many companies.

That engine will probably like a 1.75" primary, which will narrow your selection.

Just got this from their tech guy. Any ideas on the manifold and headers now knowing the plugs are no angled?

“The AC doesn’t come with the manifold. You can buy a few different styles depending on your application. Plugs are a straight plug .750” reach gasket seat”

It doesnt matter which brand you buy, make certain to buy or have them HPC coated.

A 383 header is the exact same header as one that fits a 265,267,283,305,307,327,350 or even a Mighty 400!

They have a couple to pick from , end up with HPC coated ones whatever ya do you'll never tell the difference between brands in most applications.

Hope this helps because i'm certainly no expert, I only portray one on the innerwebz.
:waytogo:

I have bought two pairs of Flowtech 1.5'" full lengths.

Yes, but thank you for trying it.

Hit the magnifying glass to bring it up AND THEN hit the MORE red button to get to the second page-? And there you will find the keyword search.

Which of course, is all ANYBODY wants that to be.

What can ya do? We gotta stick together.:help:

I know the long tubes on her now make it a pain for spark plugs. I would rather find something that helps not make it so much a pain. Lol

Hedman Elite is in the same price range, and it has thicker tubes and header flanges. In theory it should hold up better.
