3.42 gears vs 3.73 gears

Okay. That’s the only thing I was thinking that’d be a good fix. What brands do y’all recommend other than Detroit? Thanks for all your help guys!

Changed out the dead 350 for a 700R4 the tranny is great, However I had 2:73 gears and the swop does NOT do it any justice!!! I need to drive around in 3 rd. as the RPM are WAY too low in O.D. and lock up converter. My MPG went from 18-20 down to 12 on a good day. I just replaced the gears with 3:73 and notice it is MUCH better already. I can now drive in O.D. and lock up with no issues. I still need to check the MPG but it appears to have gone up in the short time I have since installed the 3:73 gears
