Any of you strapping young lads throw on a 2in lift? Right now I am sitting on tired stock springs with Zero rates and add a leafs. Needless to say it may be around stock suspension height with the help of the added crap. Any way I was planning on a rough country 2" and sticking my zero rates on the packs and possibly getting 3"- 4" out of it. Seeing as I am using the logic of hearing their 4" gave 6" of lift maybe the 2" may be stiff enough to get 3-4. I was wanting 4" but no more due to drive shaft angles and what not. Anyone have any experience with a RC 2"?

why worry on driveshaft angles with a 4? we had it and they were fine. the bds 4 inch springs that I took off my truck had shims to angle the pinion up to improve angles, you can buy them seperately as well. I personally would not waste my time or money on a 2 inch kit I'd just do the add a leafs and zero rates and be done.

If you threw on the 2" springs now, you'd get 2" from original factory height. You may see a difference of about 2-4" depending on how sagged your springs are after 40 years. You shouldn't have any issues with driveline angle at a 2-3" lift. At 4" you may need slight shimming to help angle the pinion to prevent binding and chatter.

I don't have any experience with RC springs, but I'm running a set of tuff country EZ-Rides since they had a lower spring rate than the others. My set rides smoother than the factory 3 leaf front springs (even after an AAL and zero rate).

Lower rate: softer ride and flexes easier, but more body roll.
Higher rate: stiffer ride but will carry more weight without sagging and less body roll.

I did Tuff Country 2" HD front springs and got a little over 3" of lift by using them. I have blocks in the back. I removed the front sway bar and I like how it rides. Plus I can still use it for hauling heavy loads.

Here's my 88' Suburban with RC 2" lift. Front springs and rear blocks. The blocks are slightly tapered to give the rear driveshaft a little angle.

33x12.50x15 on 10" wide wheels.

The Rough Country springs ride a little stiffer than the factory sagged ones but I also put 4 new shocks up front so that will stiffen it up a little too. I'm happy with it.

I ended up 2.5-3"" higher than before so with the factory sag I'd say it's an accurate 2" lift. But yes I've heard the 4" is at least a 4" lift. But absolutely no drive shaft problems until you go to a 6". Especially if you get the transfer case drop spacers.
