Announcing the first annual Square Body Forum truck rally to be held in Sanger, Texas 16-18 April, 2021.

Paladin, Hot Rod PC, and I have talked about this, and it's now time to pull the trigger and see how much interest there is from all forum members.

Sanger is right on I-35 at exit 478, 25 miles South of the Texas/Oklahoma line. It is 12 miles North of Denton, where I-35 splits into I-35E going thru Dallas, and I-35W going thru Ft. Worth.

Sanger has an old city square that is ideal for a small truck show.
They were still filming scenes for "Walker, Texas Ranger" when we bought our property NW in 1996.

We have a brand new, just opened Holiday Inn Express hotel, plus another locally owned motel. There are 3 RV parks in the immediate area, plus numerous hotels/motels in Gainesville 22 miles North, plus a bunch more South in Denton.

There is a great restaurant 1/2 of a city block from the square called Babe's Chicken House; a BBQ place just East of the square (walking distance), and several Mexican, American and Italian food eateries plus several typical Interstate fast food franchises.

City Ordinance states that no open containers of alcohol be visible during the rally while on the square. (What you have in your insulated mug is your business, but be intelligent about it)!

No formal agenda yet-my ideas are:

Friday PM --get together on the square to meet in person.

Saturday--Truck show on the square. Lots of local support in a little town like this, so expect a good local turn out.

Sunday- Swap meet and more telling of lies, then depart for home.

Considerations taken into account for the date selection:

Easter in 2021 is 4 April.

Pate Swap meet usually starts on the last Thursday in April. 2021; should be the 29th.

I'm starting a list of forum members who plan on attending. Updated 27 Jul '20.

That would be a two week trip for me, as my wife has a lot of family in Texas and we would have to make our rounds after the meet if we drove to Texas. I haven't been camping since 2016 due to using my vacation time for other types of trips. So I won't be going in the meet in 2021 as I need to go camping, been way too long. I know what you may be thinking, just go camping... But a 4.5 hour drive for one day of camping doesn't do it for me. I need at least 3 to 4 days of sleeping in the cold night temps at 7,000 feet or higher, and breathing the clean air where cell signal doesn't exist so I can recharge and decompress from city living. :favorites13: A meet is an awesome idea though, and I hope it is a big turnout!

That would be cool! We eat lots of Mexican food, luckily it doesn't make us gassy :)

Jeez, 15 hours and 1050 miles each way... Sounds like fun but thats alot of miles to put on my square. I could fly there alot cheaper and faster but I wouldnt have a square with me lol. How about doing it in El Paso?

I would love to go, but would also have to fly since it is over 1000 miles and I don't think I would have a square that's up for the trip ready by then.

Flying is no problem, since I work for the airlines, and it would be great to meet some of you. Count me in.

I think I could get the square ready for the trip by then. If not for dome reason I'll drive the V6 camaro up there. Either way I'll be there to hang out and drink beer and eat with you bastards.

Count me in. :happy160:

630 miles from my zip, its a good haul but I've already have done the first 250 miles of the trip in my 76 on the way to Branson this year. I'll plan on being able to make the trip!
