1995 454 has 2 timing tabs?

Doing an engine swap in a 95 2500 with 454. Replacement engine has 2 timing tabs? Both sho same. But only one will work. I'm not worried about it just curious if anyone has seen this or knows why? I found it interesting myself.

As engine bays got filled up with more accessories such as AC, a smog pump and even a second alternator, using a timing light was hard to do. The second timing tab, at 45*, was added to some timing chain covers. The balancer included should have 2 marks.

I figured it would have 2 marks on the balancer to match. This balancer doesn't? Good to know it's 45°

The timing cover on my '91 454 had the mount for the lower tab, but no lower tab. I cut it off because I didn't know what it was for... until now lol
