Hey Everyone I just joined the forum, I recently bought a 1988 v30 dump truck it's got a 454 four-speed, it brings me back to my childhood riding around in the 86 crew cab dually 454, my question is, the truck is definitely a square body, the title says 1988 v30, it's very tough ordering parts because the v30 is not a popular model, can anybody out there clarify or just simplify and say yes you can refer to this as a 87 3500, or something of that nature?

In 1988 when the body style for the C/K pickup changed, Crew cabs, Suburbans, and Blazers changed their codes to R/V for 2WD/4WD respectively.

I found my self a asking this question because a lot of parts websites do not carry the v30 as a selection, I'm currently looking for a set of u-bolts, I'd really like to know if I can just order them for another series, this truck also has a carburetor on it, and I have noticed from the little bit of research I do, 88 and above come with tbi.

Ooo I like this. Very cool. Essentially a single cab, but it's still classified as a 1 ton, and it's a 1988.

What interests me more is, it's got a carb.
I'd like to know more about this!!

Do you see any excess electrical wires anywhere on the firewall, as in, someone took the throttle body injection off?

I use all kinds of years for my square. It depends on the exact part you are working on.When you order from say Rock Auto, you can cross reference a couple of years back and check the numbers, look at the pictures.Btm line, take the part with you and compare if possible,

Nice pickup.

I can't wait to begin customizing and restoring this truck, I'm happy I found this forum. I belong to the Corvette form, and those guys have helped me out with some serious jams, it's nice being part of a community where everybody will help you out as much as they can,I can tell this is the same kind of place, I'm fortunate to be here thanks for the help

@Usmczo6 the R and V series square bodies (crew cabs, blazers, subs and some cab & chassis) were available through 1991.

Most spring shops would probably prefer to do u-bolts based on dimensions rather than application.

Welcome. Nice looking truck. The Chevy was a 30 series and GMC was a 3500 in regards to 1-ton trucks. There are a few of us here with 1-tons. Hopefully we can help you out. This is a great forum.

It's all original, carburetor from the factory, one pump of the pedal she fires right up, of course in the mild weather we're having I'm sure when it gets cold it's going to be a different story
