I just can't comprehend a body and frame that can't even roll going for $3,000... If you could get a full somewhat clean interior, reassemble the suspension and get it rolling, and find an engine/trans to put in it.... you MIGHT be able to get $8-10k for it. But that's what... $2-5k in parts and another 40-100 hours of work(minimum) to get it to that point. If you can find someone that is willing to give you $1k and haul it away, you'd better take it and run before they come to their senses. You'd likely get more money from parting out the straight body panels since it's a short bed, although it would be worth more if it was an 80 or earlier since they are harder to come by.

I have a guy supposed to be here tomorrow to haul it off. He’s gladly paying $3k. So it’ll probably be gone tomorrow he already looked at it and agreed to pay it. I’m just happy it’s gone in one way I’m a little sad in the other. But I have to get away from this neighbor of mine and can’t take the truck with me once I move. So it needed to go before I move. Some of you guys on here and not all that friendly but oh well I knew it would sell quick off Craigslist it sold within 24 hours of my post.

I saw it on CL and not surprised it sold quick, especially since you’re in the Midwest.
Understand you feel that folks were not nice, but step back and look at your history here. You’re new here, asked a bunch of normal type questions about a truck if I recall you said you’ve owned for a long time and was pretty important to you.
Then you randomly tell us it’s gutted but you must dump it now (because of something that will happen in a couple years?) and can’t really answer why such a pristine truck would be tore apart and parts missing. Which you actually still haven’t.
But good luck going forward sounds like you got it sold quick and could see you had a nice truck.

im getting $3k for it not $10k, and let’s see you find a nicer all original frame and body.

I bought both of my shortbed trucks for $500 each, the 73 I drove a hour to get it home, complete truck. The 85 was a complete truck but didn't run, towed it less than a half mile to my house.

Anyone pays 3k for what you have has more money than they have brains.

BOTH OF MY TRUCKS WERE ORIGINAL. I'm the third owner of the 85 and have all the original paperwork and owners manual, TITLES were signed by both seller and myself, sent to my states DMV, and both titles are IN MY NAME.

Reading the other posts, I agree with several that there are BIG RED FLAGS on this thing your trying to sell. Doesn't sound like the title is in your name at all, just what is called an open title, not notarized or properly signed.

Both of my trucks. Not pristine, but were original when I bought them.

Pretty tough to compare your steal of a deal trucks to the rest of the world. I presume it’s relevant, as in you bought both those trucks in the last couple years, or even the last year, as the Rona also pushed prices up?

While I agree the OPs truck and situation are “interesting” to say the least, if the chassis is clean and the paint/body is literally in as good of condition as he claims, $500 won’t touch it.
You’re comparing your apples to his oranges.

Don't think so. I don't believe what he has is "pristine" in any way. By the way, I've had the 73 for 6 years and the 85 for around 3.

I think he's full of BOLOGNA.

No doubt, still weird deal. (I saw someone dismantle the whole interior of a car I bought for them to help them out, leaving everything on the lawn when they were done, right next to their meth pipe...) Not saying this is the case, but not a common situation.
I also, prior to this for sale thread questioned that it was original paint. Could be, but the reflections in the pics do not look like "original paint"
Like I said, "assuming" the body and frame is as stated, hell, even if it isn't but the paint is bonded well and there's no hidden rust work or bodywork, $500 wouldn't touch it. Bed by itself is worth a grand easy in rust country. Hell, the bolts might even alrady be out of it.
Guy has gone this far ripping sht off the truck. If it's as clean as he says, parting it out the rest would probably fetch almost as much as he claims he's getting for it whole.

Add is off Craigslist, so it might be someone elses baby by now!

If it really is good clean straight body and quality paint (no way hardly, unless it didn't see light of day much that it wasn't a peeler) and if it is original, it's gonna be a peeler and probably why it looks re-painted), it would take you the same amount of money just to get your trucks prepped and a quality paint job.
You're comparing chiity looking old paint (or a bad repaint on your round eye, on top of other paint) to something that is valuable IF it doesn't need to be repainted. Although, I'd rather repaint than R&R the cab.

And btw, regardless of the goofiness of this thread and the OP's story/situation, take a closer look. That truck doesn't appear to have any rust. Just look at the A arms laying around and leaf springs and brakes. He sure as hell didn't "clean up" random parts for a truck that he already misplaced the other half of the parts to.

You calling the paint on my truck "******"? Well I'll have to agree with you. It was like that when I got it and has been painted on a couple times. But still wouldn't give much for a non roller no mater what condition it would be in.

$3k is more than I would have paid... but is certainly reasonable depending on location and actual condition of the truck. There wasn't a lot of details or detailed pics and certainly a lack of coherent description of the truck. I think what got him the most flack on this was that he came in hot with the "no less than 10k... I know what I got" attitude, which was just bonkers for what he actually had, especially considering the lack of detailed pics and weird descriptions.

He's dreaming. Started at 10K, went to 6K, then to 3k, said it was sold at 3k, and then stated wouldn't take less than 1K. Go figure.

As a retired law enforcement officer, he can send me a pic of the vin, and I'll send it to my wife's brother in law who lives if St. Louis, and have it checked out.

Please tell us about this neighbor. What is going on there?

Did he steal the parts off the truck?

No he’s been in prison for 2nd degree burglary and 2nd degree assault and got 4 dwis. Also I’ve had multiple issues with him personally some police matters. The neighbor is not all there he didn’t belong in prison he belongs in a straight jacket in an institution he’s that bad upstairs. I live on private wooded rural property, bad situation here.

Also I sold the truck. It sold yesterday. I’m happy with the home it went to the guy was respectable in that he wasn’t a big ego macho guy or a person from the likes of the Indiana citizens nickname. So I’m very satisfied with the buyer.
