Hello from the Central Coast of California;
I'm having trouble finding a stock grind camshaft for my 454. I own a 1979 GMC C-3500 Sierra Grande with a T-400, and I think the rear gears might be 4:10 or could be 3:73. I'll have to raise the rear to check because the tag on the diff case is so rusted that the etched numbers are unreadable. I had the motor rebuilt about 30,000 mi ago before the cam went flat. I toyed with the idea of getting an RV cam for more grunt and better gas mileage but with California's, strict smog checks I decided the best option is to stay stock. The only thing that seems available online is a Mellings CCS-24. Given the hassle of removing all the hardware off the front of the truck, I don't want to gamble putting in the wrong bumpstick and then not being able to pass smog. Any ideas?
