I'm re-doing my interior with stuff from USA1, and they don't have dash moulding (the piece that goes over the glove box from vent to vent on the passenger side) for the 1977 trucks. Anyone know if the '78-80 moulding would fit my '77 dash, or should I just buy a '78-80 dash from them? I'd assume the dash would fit without any modification? Guessing that the year ranges they list are just for folks concerned with originality to their truck, which I don't care squat about lol... I just want it to look nice.

I think the dash pad changed in 78. I think the trim piece is probably the same fit but brushed aluminum vs woodgrain.

I wonder if LMC carries the one you need, though.

Worth a look.

Never even though to check there, dunno how I forgot about them! They have the walnut moulding, and it says it fits 78-80, so I may be out of luck. It looks like the actual metal structure behind the dash pad and frame was the same from '75-80, so I may just get a new dash pad/frame for a '78. According to this, it should fit... anyone know for sure? https://www.lmctruck.com/interior/dash-components/cc-1975-87-dash-panel-assembly Looks like the actual metal structure attached to the firewall and a pillars is the same.

There are two different shapes to the dash pads. My '74 plastic trim that holds the vents will not fit the newer dashes. I'm not sure when the change was made.

All dash pads will physically swap between the trucks. I can't 100% confirm but I would say I'm 99% sure the dash trims will interchange as well (73-80).

Hopefully it will. If not, I'm just going to take the dash and my Grant steering wheel to a local cabinet shop and have them make me a custom solid wood trim piece to match the wheel. Truck has a really nice dash in it, I'm just going to dye it to match the other USA1 panels I'm getting... but the woodgrain finish on it has several scratches, and the plastic around the edge is looking a bit ratty. If I'm gonna drop $3,000 on a new interior, I may as well have everything new.

All the '73-'80 dash trims (on the passenger side) will interchange. However, there is an A/C and non-A/C version. The A/C version includes vents.
