1973 c20 manual window regulator problem

Well the driver side window was off the track when I got it. It was hot that day when I bought it so I didn't check it.

According the the parts manual many 1973 parts are unique to the year. I tried to re-track the regulator. I couldn't get the roller to go into the slot on the rail. (Using service manual to guide me.) Just a little too long. So I ordered a 1973 (one year) window regulator. It came with 5/8" rollers. My window uses 15/16" (?) rollers. (The regulator that came with the car has the large rollers.)

The length of the arms on the '73 regulator arms just a little shorter than the one that came. So it looks like I need short arms ('73) but large rollers.

I am at a loss.

Printed pages for regulator install from 1974 manual, Same as 1973 manual. Rechecked arm length between my two regulators. Seem to be same length, not different as I thought before.

The window seems to be inserted at a skewed angle in its holding track. That ain't right.

Pictures when I go outside.

Still need help on how to install this regulator. Any tricks.

I don’t remember any tricks

Think I might have loosened thre vent window and leaned it a little to get it out of the way

Vent window assembly is completely removed as per service manual.

It's all good Jim.

I learned to do mine after I ran a Norwalk, CA cop off the road while trying to get my window rolled down.

First, go buy a small tube of 3M Window-Weld.
Let the trolley (that's the piece in which the glass sits) sit in the sun to soften the old goop and wear gloves.
You don't want to get stabbed by a home-made cleaning tool or screwdriver or whatever.
Then, carefully clean out all of the gunk in the track of the trolley.

Run a good bead of 3M WW down the center and center your glass in it.

Clean and use a small amount of bearing grease in the track where the rollers go.

Now you're ready to re-install.

Second video is the winner. Haven't tried it yet but I was doing it all wrong.

Any place to get a 1973 5/8" roller trolley??? Then I can use my new 5/8" roller regulator instead of buying a new one. I'll just change the lower roller to 15/16".

Going with post '73 (maybe late '73) window parts, because that's what in there. Window and trolley at glass guy to reset window properly. Get it back tomorrow.

I tried with razor and rubber hammer. Was going to get BFH when I stopped and decided to give it to a pro.

Got the window back today. Goes together tomorrow, I hope. A little lube here and there, A little touch up paint. On go the door panels and the doors will be complete.

Missing some gaskets around the doors but if don't leak, don't fix it.

Window into regulator. Done.
Put door handle back on. Done.
Put flywindow assembly into door. It was a bitch but its done.
Roll window up and down. Done.
Install channel weatherstripping. Done.
Roll up window. STUCK! Won't go up easily at all. Comes down OK.

AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

I quit for the day before the BFH comes out.

AC not working in the house. Almost 90F in the house. Heats got me today. The truck can fend for itself today.
