Evening! A little history of my truck to get us started here: I have a 1984 C10 Scottsdale long bed with a 305/700r4 fully stock, with about 116k miles on it. It has been in my family since 1998 when my Grandfather purchased it from the original owner, who bought it new in Ohio in 1984. My Uncle still goes to church with the original owner's daughter, the original owner and my Grandfather were both Priests. I will continue to update this thread with any pictures I dig up as I rebuild the truck's backstory. It's near and dear to my heart, my Grandfather passed away in 2008, and in 2015 when my Grandmother moved in with my parents and no longer wanted to drive, she passed the truck on to me.
I have kept it together in stock form for all those years, but recently, I have been deciding what the truck should be. It has lived outside its entire life and suffers from a decent amount of rust. Cab corners, inner rockers, and cowl sections are the worst. According to service records I have, Cylinder 8 has been leaking oil and down on compression for the last 23 years and 46k miles. As a result of this continuing to get worse, I have two LS engine options currently on hand along with a 4l80e transmission. I have a 2014 L77 aluminum 6.0 and a 2003 LM7 5.3 that I pulled from an avalanche. I want to keep the truck street drivable, and the real goal is to gather all the parts I need for the swap and do them all at once, so there is as little downtime as possible. The truck runs and drives just fine and doesn't get a lot of miles (clearly) but I have a fear that if it stays non running for long, that I will lose motivation to finish the project. So for now, im in parts gathering mode along with crippling indecision on what the final form of the truck should be. Im open to lots of suggestions and look forward to the interactions here on the forum.
Little about me, I come mainly from the BMW world, I have built and raced three different generations of BMW 3 series and love those cars. My current weekend car (which used to be my daily) is a 2003 BMW M3. My daily is a mild build 2003 V8 Toyota 4runner. Excluding my wife's 2020 VW, the C10 has the lowest miles of anything in my fleet. The E46 M3 has 252,000 miles and the 4runner has 240,000 haha.
