Just wanted to introduce myself, and my truck so here it goes. My names Daniel, I’m 17 and I bought this truck last year, and have been working on it to have it running by my 18th birthday. I’m currently finishing up school and plan on shipping off to boot camp for the navy early next year.

When I bought it it had a 350 in the bed that was completely useless(rust galore/hole in cylinder 3). I was gonna throw in another sbc or whatever I could get my hands on to get it driving asap, but after helping my dad do an ls swap in his 86 k10 I decided that’s what I wanted to do. But first I wanted to make it a shortbed so me and my dad started with that

Then came replacing the front fenders that were all rusted. I found a whole front clip on Craigslist for 150 bucks, so I went to go get them, and slapped them on. Edit: I also found a stepside bed(my favorite) for 400 bucks about 2 hours away from me, so there we went.

Soon after buying the fenders I sanded through about a 1/2 of unnecessary bondo on the drivers side. (A minor dent towards the door and filling trim holes. Passenger side had what seemed to be bullet holes, but who knows. Layed on some bondo for the first time ever and it came out ok. Then just sprayed some rust oleum primer so it wouldn’t rust.

Here’s a side by side of mine and my dads truck for the time being while I look for some more pictures and take recent ones, as I’ve done lots more work to it

Welcome!
You’re at that age many of us remember very well.
Spending time with your father is very special, don’t take it for granted.

Thanks Bill! I try to appreciate every moment I spend with my dad. I really want to finish my truck before I ship off to basic so I can go on a cruise with my dad. That would be the dream.

Just finished up my harness yesterday. I unpinned everything I didn’t need lengthened some wires. Since I’m running the tbss intake I swapped out the injector plugs to the ev6 style. Loomed up everything, just seeing which fuse box to get since I’m doing a standalone setup.

Edit: The harness is going to go into the cab so everything has been adjusted for that. I don’t like the look of the harness on top of the motor and the computer in the engine bay.

Thanks for the welcoming guys! Here’s another a more recent picture. Suspension isn’t painted because I am going to sand blast and paint once I get the bushings,tie-rods,etc. the bottom of the cab isn’t painted because i have to do the inner/outer rockers/cab corner and floor section.
