Big block running hot. Can’t figure out the issue

With only 2 rows and 1-9/16" core thickness, that looks pretty small.

    It could have been worse

There's no splined hub there, the stud flange is part of the axle shaft. You probably had a wheel bearing die and wore into the shaft deep enough that the end broke off. You'll need to check for collateral damage on the housing, brakes, etc but you should be able to buy a new axle shaft, wheel...

Big block running hot. Can’t figure out the issue

I can’t remember if it was discussed, what size radiator was it? Did you order a big replacement unit?

Big block running hot. Can’t figure out the issue

Maybe check the radiator real good for flow. Possibly flush it for good measure? What about belt routing, I've seen serpentine belts that could route differently than intended. Could the belt be driving the water pump in the wrong direction? It would be a last resort since it would be pretty...

Big block running hot. Can’t figure out the issue

What about the radiator, are you sure it’s not blocked internally?

Big block running hot. Can’t figure out the issue

He said it’s a Mark IV block and 781 heads are from the Mark IV era so assuming he used the matching Mark IV head gasket there shouldn’t be any issues.

Big block running hot. Can’t figure out the issue

If there’s no signs of mixing fluids I wouldn’t pull the heads yet. What about the radiator? Is it actually circulating coolant?

    Should I go bigger u-joints

I don’t agree with the weak link theory, over build it to begin with and that’s not a problem.

Big block running hot. Can’t figure out the issue

Interesting, I didn’t realize there was interchangeability on the IV vs VI internals. Did you change the fan blade also?

Rubber seal(s) on outside of spindle?

I forgot to say that those kit part numbers I posted will have the 2 seals, the washer and the bearing. There may be a seal only kit available but I’ve never seen it.

Rubber seal(s) on outside of spindle?

    Into and identification help !

That sucks, I guess the dash or grill has been replaced? Does the tailgate say Chevy or GMC? Look inside the glove box for an option sticker. I can’t remember the year it changed but it’ll either have a brief description of each option or just a list of 3 digit codes. If it just has codes...

    Into and identification help !

Welcome to the site! Look on the passenger side dash trim, there should be a matching emblem there (above the glove box area).

    Steering arm.for 2" lift help

You need to go with a stock arm, that raised arm will cause binding problems with the lower lift.

    Bare Hands

I wear latex gloves about 50% of the time but definitely always if I’m working with grease or oil. I like for my wife to get her nails and hair done, she looks nice and feels good. I figure I can somewhat reciprocate by not having nasty nails and stained hands.

    52” front leaf spring setup

I have 2.5” lift springs but the overload is flat. @Charlie Kleman at some point I’ll add bump stops. I plan to move the bracket forward to center it over the spring plate and space down the bump stop itself.

    52” front leaf spring setup

I don’t have bump stops so I left my overloads on to (hopefully) prevent me from over flexing and bending the springs.

    Old wheel bearing grease cans.

Those are pretty cool and definitely old. I started working in auto parts in the mid 80's and the cans were already like they are now, sort of a cardboard material.

    CROSS MEMBER FRAME BROKEN

@Ricko1966 @bucket is talking about the engine crossmember, cracks at the outboard end are semi common. In fact, they happened enough that GM rivoted a small reinforcement plate on the driver’s side end on 81+ frames. The ORD engine crossmember is a really nice part if the OP wants to replace...

    Should I go bigger u-joints

I put all 1410’s in my Blazer, fork weak links! lol That said, I ran 1350’s in my old truck with 44’s and never had an issue (4spd and auto).

    Rear shackle angle

I’m no suspension expert but it looks ok to me. I’m running 56’s w/ ORD 2.5” shackle flips (swap sides like you) and my shackle angle is similar. My set up hasn’t shown any issues and works well.

    Mystery Tachometer

Just to say it, while the factory tachs are super cool I remember mine being slower than aftermarket tachs.
