Coolant Hose Popped Off the Thermostat

It was on the v8 setting so idk what to say regarding the 200 rpm I saw. It was definitely below the 500 mark.

Coolant Hose Popped Off the Thermostat

I appreciate the advice, I was lucky I pulled off before I left my neighborhood. I refilled the coolant yesterday and it took 2 gallons of coolant 50/50 to fill back up. I still need to take my gauge cluster off and fix my engine temp gauge needle so if it happens again, I can keep a better eye...

Coolant Hose Popped Off the Thermostat

I'll double check the tachometer to make sure I have the setting for v8 setting.

Coolant Hose Popped Off the Thermostat

After installing a tachometer today, I was idling around 200 RPM or so when my truck was idling with the defrost on. Could it be that the water pump wasn't able to move the fluid around at such low RPMs and then caused a pressure build up? How do I test if my water pump is failing? I think...

Coolant Hose Popped Off the Thermostat

So I'm here in Colorado and just experienced the winter storm Anya. I'm not too familiar with engine cooling systems so I'm not sure what happened. I had my truck running with the defroster on full blast while I shoveled snow (so idling for about 15-20 minutes?). I was on my way to drive it...

Engine Stalling - Bad EVAP/Charcoal Canister?

That's a good idea. I'll definitely look into adding vapor traps on the fuel tank vent lines later. Right now, as far as I understand, I'm running well with the new evap can and removing all the fuel filters and adding an inline filter.

Edelbrock 750 cfm or 600 cfm carburetor for 454 stock engine.

Could be that the primary jets and metering are stuck shut. I know this happened to me once and I couldn't give the engine any load at low RPMs. I had to limp back home on high RPM for the secondaries to open up with the load of the empty truck going down hill. Thankfully I was in my...

Edelbrock 750 cfm or 600 cfm carburetor for 454 stock engine.

Having similar issues with my qjet. I added a modified Mr. Gasket spacer, removed the carb side fuel filter and e-pump fuel filter and replaced with an inline filter, and rebuilt the carb with a walker set. I still need to test drive it but if it continues to stall on me, I'll redo the fuel line...

    Brush Guard, watchu tink?

Used to live in Pearland and yeah, I picked up a lot of bad driving habits out of necessity just to make my exits and lane switches. Houston is full of drivers that, quite frankly, don't care. That's why there's always accidents all day, every day, on every major road/highway.

    Bubba's Brake Bleeder: A Guide

I'm sure that brake bleeding is universal or whatever but for the people like me who don't know what the hell they're doing, this is for you. This is my first time bleeding brakes on all 3 of my cars at once in one attempt. It became a multi-day affair because of the ****ing mosquitos but...

    Brush Guard, watchu tink?

Just installed a Luverne brush guard on my truck. It only had two of the original 7/16"-14 cage nuts. I kept those on the top of the pillars and used a 7/16"-14 1-1/4" bolt for the cage nuts with a snap ring and washer. Since the bottom of the pillars did not have cage nuts I used 1/2"...

Engine Stalling - Bad EVAP/Charcoal Canister?

I used the following set up for fuel pressure and was getting around just over 3 psi while the engine was running and a little more than 4 when the engine was off/shut off valve was closed. I still need to check fuel volume. The engine sounded best at around 15.5-16.5 inHg. At 17 inHg the engine...

Show me your SBC fuel pressure gauge/regulator setups.

I have an M4ME Quadrajet on my 350 5.7 sbc. Here is the fuel pressure gauge with a quarter turn shut off valve for troubleshooting. I got the idea from a significant figure named "lars" over at the corvette forums. My fuel pressure was a little over 3 psi when running and a little over 4 psi...

    Fuseable link

I think you should be good because 1) If I'm not mistaken, the blower motor amp draw is around 6 amps. 14GA takes like 15 to 20 amps 2) You know where the fusible link is so you don't have to track anything down. I personally like inline fuses because they're easier to...

    Courtesy light/door switch question

Do you have a picture of the switch itself? A picture may offer some insight. I posted about rebuilding them here and they were just one wire that was powered by a single wire and completed ground with the cab where they screw on bare metal. If there isn't one, I'll bet you can can just tap into...

Engine Stalling - Bad EVAP/Charcoal Canister?

@Grit dog Here's the pump in post #21: Edelbrock Part #17303 (I'm 90% sure). Just for clarity, the accelerator pump was working and moving; it was the power piston, which metered the primaries, that was stuck shut somehow. Maybe there's a connection between the two but I'm just stating it to be...

Engine Stalling - Bad EVAP/Charcoal Canister?

So the 4MV had a different fuel inlet and I didn't want to jank together a makeshift fuel connection. I ended up cleaning up the OEM (I think) M4ME. One thing I noticed during disassembbly, aside from all the bits of charcoal in the bowl, was that the power piston was slammed down and wouldn't...

Engine Stalling - Bad EVAP/Charcoal Canister?

@Snoots No catalytic converter @Ricko1966 I haven't run the vacuum test on the carb yet. I was able to turn on my truck and turn it around so I don't get a ticket until it started giving me problems again. This is the fuel pump I have and it's delivering fuel but I did not formally check volume...

Engine Stalling - Bad EVAP/Charcoal Canister?

Got the new canister and test drove it yesterday with everything hooked up. All the EFE/AIR Pump stuff has been deleted. I drove it and it died again, thankfully before I left my neighborhood. I thought it was the venting thing again so I disconnected all the vent lines to the fuel tank and took...

@DoubleDingo Yeah I'm picking up what you're putting down. This post was ultimately meant to be a question to the community with some back story, as you mentioned. I'll just keep it concise next time. Thanks

Engine Stalling - Bad EVAP/Charcoal Canister?

Fair enough. I'm also using this forum as a truck diary/library lol. TL;DR Engine stalled and eventually started rough idling. I cut the vent hose between the evap can and gas tank and it started up. Please help me fix

Engine Stalling - Bad EVAP/Charcoal Canister?

I am going to throw money at a new canister and a new PCV valve. I have part number 17061005BT so it's probably original and needs to get replaced anyways. I see that my PCV valve is covered in oil so I am going to replace that as well as all the vapor/vacuum hoses I touch. Here is my hose routing

Engine Stalling - Bad EVAP/Charcoal Canister?

No bites yet from this crowd but in my research I found this image. It may be useful to someone out there.I don't know if it's exactly for GM but it seems exactly what I have for my 5/6 port. I just hate not knowing what's going on in the black box and I don't want to cut my hard-to-find...
