    I always use a front head accessory bolt and a rear head accessory bolt on the opposite side with an adjustable load leveler attached to the engine hoist, I don’t trust aluminum intake bolts and always pull the radiator.

    Bucket has it right, you can move or set the distributor in any position you want as long as where you drop it in the rotor aligns with the designated #1 on the cap and the engine is on TDC

    Drive the truck for awhile but only until you hear the noise for 5 minutes or so then slowly stop and feel your hubs, if a wheel bearing is going bad that hub will be hotter. Also remember that the front brakes do most of the stopping so judge accordingly.

    Put good fuel in it, let it run low then load up on isopropyl alcohol (dry gas) on the way to the test. Worked every time for me. Considering that you have no major problems.

    My 84 came with this setup, water pump is plugged off. Somebody told me it was the HD cooling option which makes sense as my truck came from Nevada. Hope this is helpful.
