72 Monte Carlo project
Great project! I'm a HUGE Monte fan. I've owned 3 total, including an '86 SS. My first CAR was a '76 that was one of my fav's of all that I owned. I've never owned a 1st gen , but would love a 1st gen SS with either the LS5 or 402!- mtbadbob

Welcome from Montana. I, too, am a Q-Jet man. I've rebuilt several & have had great luck with them. Make sure you check the play on the throttle shaft, because if it's wore out, it'll suck in air and to my knowledge, you'll have to ****-can it. The carb numbers on the side tell the story...- mtbadbob

2.5" Skyjacker final thoughts
I did a pair of Rough Country 2" Add A Leafs up front, 1" spacer blocks and new u- bolts in rear. About perfect 2" lift with slight rake. The ride is pretty good, but it is a 3/4" ton. Also, shorty trucks will be a bit more "bucky-feeling" in ride because of their short wheel base- mtbadbob

1987 Fresh Air Intake
I believe the TBI snorkel tubes are a bit longer because the air cleaner housing locks down onto the TB in a certain position, where the carburated versions were canted more toward the front. On my '87, I tried a snorkel from a different year, and it was a little too short to connect to the core...- mtbadbob

BTW, I've NEVER had to drill an air hole in my stat as the air will works it's way out of the system in no time...- mtbadbob

The new "Fail-safe" T-stats "fail" OPEN! My mechanic buddy is NAPA Certified Repair, but WILL NOT use their t-stats for this exact reason. Can you give me more info on the resistor, & where it goes? I think I read somewhere that it is soldered between injector power wires?? My truck is missing the pump, and I cannot get it to stop over-fueling at idle.- mtbadbob

What have you done to your square lately??
I'm having an over-fueling problem myself. I'm running a JET Performance chip, the 2nd one theyv'e sent me, and they're claiming it's the correct one for GM's last ECM update for the TBI trucks. Everything but the TPS is new, I've rebuilt the TB, have a Power Tower, pod spacer, increased fuel... -

I discovered my radiator has developed a slight leak on the bottom side somewhere. F*@#!!! It's going to be below zero for a few nights, so I guess I'll deal with it when it warms up. -

Put it on a lift, turn your rear wheel one revolution, and count how many times the drive shaft rotates in that same revolution.- mtbadbob

1986 c2500 GMC fuel gauge duel tank issues
That truck is a cream puff, wow! Don't count on the port valve switch being fine. More than likely it's CHINESE CRAP, or is it original?. I had to get my auxilary tank in service when I bought my truck, new sending unit, re-wired the correct factory tank selector switch in, and installed new...- mtbadbob
