    Hood emblem

YOU the man! That is perfect! 4 feet to the center of the big hole is close enough, if not spot on. The hole looks correct and that’s what worried me. There’s no margin for error on the sides.1/8” on either side. Have to go 1/2” bit max, then elongate it with a dremel to 3/4 long. I’d be willing...

    Hood emblem

I purchased a hood emblem for my 1980 c10 Silverado. Found out it is part of the zy5 (I think) exterior appearance option. It is a GM approved part but it came without directions or a template. Two quarter inch and one half inch hole are required. I would like to get it right the first time. I...

As advertised above gentlemen, thank you. I was able to unscrew light switch but leave it there and just push it over.

    Darn AC vent

Hi folks 1980 c10 Silverado with AC I have fought and lost and may have broken something. Please....How do you remove the lower left AC vent? It should not be this hard.

    What goes here?

GM did such weird shit in those days. Between engineers and bean counters, don’t know who was worse. Can you imagine if only car guys (and gals) had final say in the building of cars.

    What goes here?

Is that a nickname for what that setup is? Would make sense. But I am clearly missing something. Doesn’t even have the holes on the firewall for the pin setup.

    What goes here?

Valvoline VR1 conventional racing oil, 10w30. Has the extra zinc. And to you Britt, hello again, hope you’re well. I am thrilled with the increase in power. A blessing in disguise, although an expensive one. I’ve been jokingly accused of leaving oil out of the 305 so I could “upgrade”. Have to...

    What goes here?

I never got around to hopping up that 305. Did nothing at all. She blew all on her own. I don’t think that truck was ever driven over 45 mph.... but who knows. The motor was a base long block from Chevy performance through Summit with 249 hp and 304 torque. Don’t know what a 290 is.

    What goes here?

Yes, Rusty Nail, I’m still here. Remember all that blather about modifying my mint, 52K 305 motor? All for naught... I blew a connecting rod out the bottom just cruising down the highway at 70. She now has a new crate 350 with Edelbrock intake and 4 barrel, stainless headers and exhaust to...

    What goes here?

Attached is a picture of the underside of the hood on my 1980 c10 Silverado. I figure it to be a light but I cannot locate anything that seems to fit there.

    305 carb issues

You guys take this stuff way too seriously. Rusty Nail.... lighten up. I’m 58 years old, feel lucky to have a few toys and a few bucks to waste on them if I feel like it. Calling people pussies and stuff? Grow up. Go take a hike in the mountains, pet a dog, watch a sunset....something, anything...

    305 carb issues

Thank u folks for the compliments on the truck and I value all opinions. If one doesn’t want an opposing opinion, then one shouldn’t ask the question. That said, 2 things...first, GM all the way for me. I’d buy a dodge before a ford. And second, I’m probably gonna get the intake and Holley...

    305 carb issues

Hello all... proud owner of a 1980 c10 Silverado with the just okay 305 engine. It only has 53K miles on it but, and not all will agree, it’s power output, and more specifically, it’s carburetor behavior is finicky, to say it kindly. A couple of real old school mechanics near me have suggested...

    New square body owner

I have to confess that I assumed because it was the Silverado edition that it would have those map pockets and the tabs are there for them. I did not know GM had those speaker covers available. I guess it doesn’t matter, I am replacing everything on the door except the bling, which is still in...

No kidding on that seat! It’s so cool, I hate to cover it but I eat in my vehicle and I can’t mess that seat up. Doesn’t even have a coffee stain on it... on that dash - HAD no crack until 40 years of Florida warmth got introduced to New England February. The vinyl shrunk and a crack has formed...
