    Holley Retrobright radio interference solutions?

Side note, I put Auxbeam LEDs in my '06 Chevy truck. No radio issues from them. Q20 series I believe, they even have a small cooling fan. These lights recommended by a fellow mechanic. No more shadows of my truck in front of me when being tailed by a new vehicle with bright lights.

    Holley Retrobright radio interference solutions?

@saltdog The only reason GM has a ground strap on th hood is for the radio. The hindges can loose their ground driving because the hood shakes. I only guessed it might be an issue. If the LEDs are putting out interfearce they must be the problem

    Holley Retrobright radio interference solutions?

Make sure he hood has a ground strap to the firewall. This makes a big difference for FM in the fringe areas. Believe it or not, the radiator support can also loose it's ground from rusty bolts/surface on the mounting bolts to the fenders. All the front sheet metal needs a ground, easy to test...

Engine Block Heater for SBC 350

I would also recommend a tank type coolant heater. Heat the engine and the cab heater too. This is one of many Zerostart brand external tank heaters. You don't have to mess with a freeze plug. Pull out the coolant block drain on the passenger side, add the hose fitting. Cut the heater hose...

Advice on Transmission Fluid Change for 1980 C10

The only factory torque converter that had a drain plug in them were old Fords. (I've only ever seviced trucks, don't know about cars.) Aftermarket converters may have a plug, but the OP stated he believed the trans was not apart.

Passenger turn & side marker lights trouble

From what you describe, the most likely cause is the turn signal switch. You can check that switch using the connector to the switch at the bottom of the steering column. There are many more places it can fail so you need a wiring diagram and a test light or meter.

Gauge Cluster Teardown and Rebuild - Beware, Pic Heavy!

The reason you might not want to change bulbs this way, is it is easy to damage the printed circuit wiring. You can't see it, and it's old.

Flickering headlights, could also be the alternator.

    Check out my rear end

With Andy's info, then in 1980 GM did still have their posi units in some trucks. The RPO code, would that be different than G80? Hey Paw Paw, @89Suburban any info you can share on your Suburban?

    Check out my rear end

Yes it could be a much earlier rear axle/parts. Not something from GM available in the 1980's that I know of.

Advice on Transmission Fluid Change for 1980 C10

Look at the pan.. Yes there is a filter screen. Use ACDelco Dexron 3 or 6. I would not use any fluid that states Dex-Mer or multi-vehicle. Others may have a different opinion on the fluid. Get a pan gasket too.

    Check out my rear end

That is not a GM limited slip differential. The GM govern lock differential does not require posi additive. That locker may require additive, what brand is it? Is the pinion loose, can you wiggle it? Unless the axles are bent, nothing else in the rear will give a vibration at speed. You stated...

    Mystery Tachometer

Andy you are not wrong, the resistor on the back of the fuel gauge is part of the design so the gauge does not bounce. I had to do some research to see why the old mechanic told me my GM C60 fuel gauge would read correctly in my C10 with the resistor from my original gauge. The resister serves...

    GMC-IH

I really like your Corn-binder GMC! The "hi-tech" hose clamps are installed on many new trucks I work on. The issue is removing them. Unless you are very good, cutting off the clamp, you need a new hose when done.

    Mystery Tachometer

There are different resistors on the back of the fuel gauges. That is why they bolt on. Old school tech. Squares are most all the same. MD trucks can be different.

    Mystery Tachometer

More info, Some C50 etc. trucks have a taller fuel tank. If the medium duty small fuel gauge with the tach does not seem to read your fuel level correctly, replace the resistor on the back with the resistor from the original pickup gauge. Also a blazer or suburban fuel gauge may also have a...

^^^ :waytogo: On the medium duty truck, the last gauge hole would have an air gauge for the brakes, or a vacuum gauge for the booster on juice brakes.

I never said I didn't like the lights. They are still clunky antiques. OP was hunting ideas.

    Step Side Bed Wiring

Ideas.... you could get a roll pan and put the lights in it. Remove the clunky side lights, add a set of sealed Trucklite tail and backup lights. Maybe like this, but without the side mounted backup lights. In my defense, you asked. :waytogo:
