    big block starter replacement

We use those mini starters on all of the engines. They work like champs. From the big block in my truck to a straight 6 in a Nova.

    Bare Hands

Gloves, gloves, gloves. I use them. I make the kids use them. I had a decade of stained black hands that needed to have a pumice stone to get 80% clean. Now with all the chemicals and crap, there is no need to not have them on. When they go on sale I buy several boxes of my size and some for...

How to ID 16" 8 bolt wheels?

Could be. They look kinda like what came on my truck. You would have to look them over to find the stamp to be sure though.

How to ID 16" 8 bolt wheels?

My truck came to us wearing a set of Ford wheels. There is a Ford stamp on each of them proclaiming so. I can see yours have some stamps on them, is there a makers mark on the front or the back?

    Collapsed upper radiator hose

Sounds like you already have a thermostat similar to the one that I recently purchased. It has the little brass jobbie in a hole that will let the trapped air escape in the case the stat is not open. When water pressure is present, brass jobbie is pressed against the stat and closed off. Engine...

Why doesn't anyone use the Chevy "Connect & Cruise" packages?

I would believe that the initial buy in price of that package makes most people back away. Sourcing junkyard parts takes that sting away or even buying a running driving vehicle to take all the parts from is more feasible.

From the same Porsche, Max found this cool aluminum air tank in the rear of it. It will be repurposed into a cool moon tank-ish fuel tank on his '55 Bel Air. Here it is just sitting on the front of the car. I was looking around a Dodge Magnum and spotted it had a battery tray in the back of...

Max found a fancy Porsche horn for his VW. The Camaro has twisted together wires at the injectors, so I found 3 sets of them and picked them all up. I found a 454 TBI throttle body and snapped it up as well. It has the newer style base and its 2 inch throttle plates. Never know, I might get...

Went to the junkyard last weekend as I thought it was the 75% off sale, nope. That is this week. But we got some goodies any how as it was all still 50% off. 4th Gen window washer fluid container. This will mount in the nose of the girls Camaro under the panel and out of the way of the air...

What have you done to your square lately??

I pumped the gas a couple of times and the big block came to life. It has been several months since I have used it. We love this simple beast.

    Show your daily driver

You would hate me if I went out there and took a photo of the underside of it... The factory paint still looks good under there with zero signs of rust all covered in road grime. These are from a few years ago when we did the rear end again. This is when I munched the Detroit Tru Trac that is...

Hearing of the issues of the newer type cars and stuff, I am happy we have kept this battle wagon around to be our champion all these years. We bought it 21 years ago about this time as Max was a 13 month old and we wanted a better vehicle that was a better family machine than the 1st one of the...

    Whatcha do with that...?

It goes in a pile in the yard until I either need it again for something else, recycle it, or somebody else needs something. Currently my back yard is a dump of all things vehicular and needs some serious cleaning and sorting. There are lots of things that just need to be sorted and recycled...

I drove one of those for a while and it was snappy for sure in stock form. Being fully built and then boosted would be awesome.

Who is or has run a 307?

One of the "complaints" was about the abandoned vehicle behind my garbage cans. So no my aBaNDonEd Bel Air sits out at the street, current plates and all for them to gaze upon every time they drive by. Front of the house looks like an old car lot. And to be relevant to this thread, Max was...

    Gun Rack Spacing

I dunno about spacing, but make sure the hooks are not behind your head. My buddies truck came with one that was super obnoxious as we both were hitting our heads on them.

    Muffler recommendations

Do you have full tailpipe exhaust? What size? As that will also affect the sound. On my truck, the 454 is incredibly quiet while breathing through the Jones Flow Pack single chamber mufflers. I suspect that is due to the low compression of the stock-ish engine. Mine ends just before the axle...

Who is or has run a 307?

We don't live in a HOA and there are still Karen's that think they run the world. I was turned into the city by one of them. Provided information that my **** was all up to date and give the neighbor the finger when they look our way...

    1999 454 carb swap. best street carb, 600? 650? 750? CFM

But then I would have to invest in $4000 of computers and training and plugs and learning. The swap is easy, getting it to run correct is the part that will drive you nuts. I can buy an awful lot of fuel for that $4k investment and the current big block. :happy107:
