Swapping 4wd front axle to 2wd IFS

Well I just got off the phone with Bob's Chevy trucks, the guy I talked to said I'll run into a lot of problems because the frame on the 4wd is wider, as well as tie rod lengths, steering, ECT. Can anyone vouch for this?

Swapping 4wd front axle to 2wd IFS

I've looked, can't find what I'm looking for. If someone has a thread of this already up, I apologize for the repeat. I'm looking at swapping a 4wd front axle off of a 1984 K30 for a 2wd IFS system off of a 1981 C30. Converting the 84 into a 2wd. Will/should the IFS bolt right up or is there a...

Frame differences on very rear of frame

What I mean is is on a half ton and 3/4 ton the frame is 6" underneath the cab where is on a one ton it's 8". What I'm asking is is on the frame on the very back is it the same measurement On a 1 ton as it would be on a 1/2 or 3/4 ton? If Il went out and cut a frame at the rear cross member on...

Frame differences on very rear of frame

OK I've looked, I cannot find what I'm looking for, hence the new post. I am working on restoring a 1980 Chevy C30, With a frame from a 1981 1 ton. The problem is the frame that I have had been cut just behind the leaf springs. What I want to know is is that portion of the frame the same as any...

    Back end of 1 ton

Trying to mend an old frame back together. When I bought this truck I discovered that the last person who owned it, cut the frame right behind the leaf springs. Was wondering if anyone had a spare trunk of frame they wouldn't mind cutting.

1/2 ton cab to a 1 ton frame

Well, I went and got them just last Monday. Now I just need to sell the old cab and add some metal to the back of the frame, then go from there.

1/2 ton cab to a 1 ton frame

What kind of grinding, drilling, slotting are we talking about? I'm pretty new to fabricating with limited tools. Am I gonna need to take it to a shop for a lot of custom work? Or do the holes just need to be bored out a little, with some minor cutting?

1/2 ton cab to a 1 ton frame

Cool, thanks for the info. I thought they would but wanted a second opinion. Im aware of the changes to the front, so I take it the front clip from a 73 80 will also bolt to an 81 frame as well? Especially if it's going to the older cab I would think?

1/2 ton cab to a 1 ton frame

I've looked all over but I can't find an answer. I have 1981 chevy 1 ton frame but I want to mount a 73-80 cab on it. Will a cab from a c10 or 20 work? Or do I have to find a cab for a 1 ton? I know the frame is bigger hence the question. Just need to know if they will line up and mount up.
